PROLOGUE

It was 2 in the morning. The wife of a poor farmer screamed. Her water just broke. The mother of the woman rushed her to the room of the midwife, where a baby girl was born. The wife eagerly waited for her husband to return. But instead of her husband, the royal guards and a woman entered the house. The woman had clearly been crying. She yelled

"Your fool of a husband killed my child to sell her organs for money! My husband found out and they both beat each other to death. How dare you give birth to a child and lead your life happily when your husband ruined my life!?"

She looked at the moon and cried

"Oh goddess! I beg you to serve justice"

The child which was fresh out of its mothers womb cried, but instead of tears diamonds rolled out the child's eyes. It hurt the child's eyes. It was clearly more of a curse than a blessing.

The goddess who was looking at the events from her heavenly abode smiled when her husband asked her the reason why she punished the poor child and she replied

"Its all fate darling, it was necessary to punish the child in order for justice to be established in the human world again."

Her husband was confused but he knew better than to question his wife's decisions so he stayed quiet.

Soon after a few days it was found that the child's family had killed themselves out of shame.

Soon after the news spread a childless nobleman and his wife adopted the child.

They named her Augustine Clemont

17 YEARS LATER

Tristan Salvatore

I hurried down the dirty  streets. I had never visited this part of the kingdom before. I'd preferred to keep it that way, similar to how I'd preferred to not take over the throne. But my disinterest in taking over the throne did not mean that I did not care about my people. And that's exactly what led me here.

I finally reach the place, it was an old, dusty building which was in ruins. I slowly step inside. I spot the old man.

"Why did you call me all of a sudden?"

"I think the king has started being suspicious"

"What the fuck Eric? How?"

"Someone has tipped them off. I don't think we can communicate by writing letters from now on, not even in codes. You will have to be physically present for every meeting from now on."

"Okay? But how will I get to know when the meeting will be conducted?"

"One of the nobles from the palace is acquainted with us. She will inform you. Her name is Evelyn Cline."

"How will she get to know? Its dangerous even for her."

"That's not your problem. You should probabl-"

Eric was cut off by a woman who had just jumped inside the building. She was in an all black cloak and her face was covered with a mask, only her eyes were visible.

She had a bag full of rubies I guess, it was not clearly visible. She handed it to eric and quickly left the building.

"Why do you need so much money?"

"You think its easy sneaking inside secret places and gaining access to confidential matters. Of course we need to bribe people Tris."

"Who was sh-"

Before I could completely finish my question, Eric too quickly followed the girl and left the building.

I sighed. Then I too headed towards the palace as I had drugged a guard while escaping and he should have woken up by now.

I reached the palace and I sneaked inside my room through the window. Then I casually walked outside my room and walked towards the guard and woke him up.

"Your highness, I caught someone leaving the palace......he drugged me before I could find out who he was. I'll-"

"Relax, I found the guy. He was just a petty art enthusiast who couldn't resist sneaking into the palace to look at paintings, just go and rest in your dorms for now. The drug was quite strong so you will feel dizzy for a few more hours."

After sending the guard away, I headed back to my dorm and fell asleep as soon as I laid down, since I was exhausted.
