His POV

I walked down Maltfield Road, the street I always walked through to get to the bus stop four years ago to go to the english school.

It was on summer of 2006. I came to Oxford, England to study english for one month. I can say it’s one of the best summers I’ve ever had. I met a lot of incredible people there.

I met her.

We were both sixteen at that time, her being some months older than me. Even though I had had several girlfriends after meeting her, I never stopped thinking about her. Somewhere in my mind, she was always there.

I remember the first time I saw her, I thought she was a curious girl. She was wearing skinny jeans and a blue shirt with a cartoon whale on it that had a SAVE ME! message on top of it.

You ask why I still remember those insignificant details? I don’t know. I think she got deep into me.

I never knew exactly how she felt about me. I never asked. But then again, I never told her how I felt either. There were obvious signs, like: I took her hand and she didn’t shake it off. But how sure could we be?

I lifted my gaze and saw a girl sitting in the bus stop, probably waiting for it. The bus was almost there, but I didn’t hurry my step. I had no rush.

The girl saw the bus coming and stood up. She turned towards where I was, but didn’t notice me.

I stopped dead when I recognized her. My mouth fell a little as I tried to find my voice and call her, but I couldn’t. I was too shocked to do anything.

The bus stopped in front of the stop and the girl got into it. At that moment something clicked in my brain. Run. And I started to run, wishing I could somehow stop the bus.

It was too late though. The bus took off, leaving me breathless in the middle of the street.

Her POV

I got into the bus and gave my bus card to the driver. While he checked it I looked out the window, watching every single detail, and remembering the time I had spent here four years ago.

The driver gave back my card and I went to the back of the bus and sat on the same seat where I had last spent time with him.

Even after four years I still hadn’t forgot about him. What made him so special was that he wasn’t like every other guy. He wasn’t just interested on how I looked. He was interested on who I was.

I smiled at the memories. When I looked up to the window, I saw a guy running towards the bus. It looked liked he desperately wanted to catch the bus. What could be so important? I giggled a little at the thought.

I stared at him a little bit, and then, I saw it was him. Is it him? It can’t be him! But it is.

The bus driver started the engine and the bus began going forward. I stood up from my seat and walked to the window of the back of the bus. He stood there, in the middle of the street, staring intently at the leaving bus.

I can’t lose him again. I shook my head and went to the front of the bus.

“Miss, you have to sit down.” The bus driver told me.

“I know.” I mumbled. “But you have to stop the bus.” I told him.

“I can’t do that before we arrive to a bus stop.”

“But...” I stuttered. “Please. This could be the best moment of my life.” I pleaded.

“Well, you’ll have to wait for the best moment of your life until we get to the next stop miss.” He said coldly.

Jeez! “Can you even go a tad faster?” I asked angrily.

He turned the corner and stopped a little bit further at the bus stop. The moment the driver stopped the bus I ran out of it, gathering some curious stares from the people in the bus.

I began running, wishing he would still be there.

His POV

I watched as the bus turned the corner and sighed defeated. How could this happen to me?

I walked towards the bench near the bus stop and sat on it, resting my head in my hands and closing my eyes. She was so close.

I stayed there what seemed like hours, thinking how stupid it was not to follow her. Wait. I opened my eyes, having a new idea pop into my mind. Maybe I can still catch the bus.

With that hint of determination I stood up quickly, but instead of the road, it was her in front of me. She was breathing heavily, and I could tell she had been running.

“Wha...” I began. I stared at her in awe. “But I thought you...”

“I had to come back.” She interrupted me. She looked at me as if this was all just a dream.

Her POV

He stared at me awed. “But...”

“I saw you running.” I smiled slightly, interrupting him again. “And I couldn’t just... leave.”

He was still surprised that I had come back, but slowly began to get closer to me. It was almost impossible to control the urge I had to close the gap between us. But I waited.

He stood inches away from me now, and I could smell his sent. Remembering everything again.

He put his hands softly on the both sides of my waist and pulled me towards him. I could feel his breath caressing my ear, and I closed my eyes at it. “Finally.” He whispered.

He began to bring his face closer and closer to mine. I had my eyes still closed, but I could feel the heat coming from him. I could feel my face heat up on my cheeks. I had been waiting this for so long.

I rested my hands on his chest as his lips brushed gently against mine. It was so gentle, that it seemed as if he was afraid I would disappear with the lightest gesture.

The air caught in my throat when he finally pressed his lips to mine. And I slowly kissed back, enjoying every second of the moment. It was perfect. It was complete.

His POV

I kissed her softly and she kissed back. Everything seemed unreal, and I felt so lightheaded.

We stopped and I leaned my forehead soflty against hers, not wanting to hurt her with any move. I pulled her closer to me and held her there. She slowly put her arms around my neck and hugged my tight.

With that simple gesture, I knew exactly how she felt. And in that instant, there was no need for words.
