2 weeks after Hazel and I had been working on the hoodie business the weather got cold. Lucky for us, it just brought in customers. The logo is an H and A in cursive writing. I had a problem with the H coming first but she already had 100 hoodies made so we couldn’t change it. I got a black hoodie with a golden logo on it and it looks amazing, best of all it feels amazing, like a wolf’s coat. The delivering wasn’t really hard and also got me some time outside the house. My parents have been trying to keep me locked up because of these witches but Hazel managed to sweet talk them into letting me go out. By sunset I should be home, that’s all they said. Hazel and I don’t talk much about our personal lives. Its just business. Although she sometimes tries to get me to talk about other things. I just ignore that. I am very good at ignoring her. Today Hazel had asked me to come help with the arranging of the hoodies. Her mother is not around and her small hut is almost empty. No, tv or picture frames just 2 chairs and a table. Her room is just a bed and her sowing station. The bedding black and green. She must love green and also baking because the cookies she gave me are like heaven. “You look like someone who never ate cookies during their childhood” she says as she watches me eat my 10th cookie. It is true, my mother is not much of a baker. She just started cooking recently so obviously things like this would never be there in a wolf’s home. “yeah, my mother is not much of a baker” I reply. She then brings out an order my mother made last week. “Here you go, for your mom.” I take the 3 hoodies, 2 large ones for my parents and a small one for Anna. I place them next to my school bag so that I wont forget them. “Who is the small one for?” She asks like she is afraid of asking the question. “Its for my little sister, she is thirty-fi… I mean 5 years” I throw in another cookie to avoid me from making more mistakes like that.
After sorting out the hoodies, we went to deliver half of them. Then we went to the mall for some more material. Hazel stops at a phone shop and looked at me. “Do you have a phone?” I shake my head saying no and she got in. I followed her and she bought a nice black phone. The brand didn’t matter to me, just the black cover it had with red flames. She gives it to me “Here you go, this is a reward for being the best employee of the month.” She laughs as she walks away from me. I followed her, stunned at what I am holding. I don’t have a phone because, why would a lone wolf need a phone for contacting other wolves? Id rather suffer alone and rule myself alone. But holding this phone in my hand felt amazing. Its as if I have always wanted one but had too much pride to get myself one. Well, at least my father will be happy that I have a phone now. After shopping it was getting late so I part ways with Hazel by the school with the other half of the ordered batch and her with all the material for new hoodies. When I got home I gave everyone their hoodies then realized that mom didn’t order one for Zaya. She looked pretty down that she didn’t get one but I don’t care. I turn to wolf and sat next to her because mother feels like she is missing her peers. “How is the business doing?” she asks looking at the empty wrappers on the floor. “Its going pretty great, we have loads of customers.” “I want a hoodie too” she looks at me and for a moment I felt guilty for not bringing her one. “I’ll get you one” I said without thinking about it.
The following day before father dropped me to school he decided to give me a pep talk. “ Aron, have you thought about finding a wife?” I turned to look at him after unbuckling my seatbelt. “Father, no and I am not interested in having a wife” I say with a serious voice. “If you are to take the throne as the pack leader you will have to get a wife. A leader must have a woman who will stop him from becoming a dictator.” “But father, cant I rule without a wife?” “No son, the elders will not allow that.” I look at him with disappointment and I began to wonder why is he asking me this now. “ Why do you bring up this topic now, Father?” his face grew sad. “Because son, I am leaving tonight to find the cure to this injuries.”
After school I went to Hazel’s place to pick up more orders but I had to cut the chit chat short. I wanted to be home before my father leaves. “Why the hurry Aron?” Hazel asks as she hands me a lunch box of cookies and we walk to her room. I couldn’t tell her the reason so I kept quiet. She gives me the orders and as i turned to leave she grabs my wrist. I turned to look at her and she was 2 inches away from me. Her emerald green eyes glow in front of me and I felt the hairs on my back rise. It’s the first time she has ever been this close to me. “Aron, you have been very disturbed today and I am worried about you. If you need to talk about it, I am hear for you. Not just as a business partner but your friend” She says and wraps her arms around my lower half for a hug. I don’t know why I feel so scared but it was an oddly satisfying feeling. For a while I did not push her away then I remembered what father had said, he wants me to find a wife. Could Hazel… no what am I thinking. I pushed her away gently and hurried out of her house. I ran back home and found my father and the rest of the family seated having an early dinner. I drop the orders down on the couch and placed the lunch box of cookies on the table then headed to the kitchen for my food. When I got back I saw them smelling the cookies. “They are chocolate chip cookies from Hazel” I say as I take a seat next to Anna. “Oh my gosh mom, chocolate chip cookies. Finally I get to have some” Anna screams joyfully. “Where have you heard about chocolate chip cookies?” My mom asked laughing. “The girls at school used to talk about how their moms can bake delicious cookies” We all laugh at Anna’s statement. “Son what’s that in your pocket?” My father asks as I walked to the kitchen to get some salt. “Its my phone” Everyone on the table looked at me with shock. “You have a phone?” he asks again like he didn’t believe my first statement. “Yes, Hazel bought it for me yesterday at the mall” I said sitting down with eyes glued to me. “All these years of trying to get you a phone and all I should have done was just to ask a young attractive female to get it for you” My father says and everyone laughs at his statement. “I’m just glad that, Hazel is softening him up” My mother says and I smile at that statement. “Look, he is smiling!” Anna shouts and everyone just burst into more laughter. Who would have thought that I would be embarrassed by a girl like this.
