Namjoon was sitting in one of the chairs in front of Jungkook's desk, watching Jimin pace around the room like a restless cat.
"He texted me like forty minutes ago, where the hell is he?" Jimin asked, turning to glare at the doctor as he rounded the far corner of the office. "No idea, but Jin's working on their project as far as I know, so that's one order we don't have to worry about."
The boss calling a private meeting like this, and with no warning at all, was never a good sign. Namjoon was doing his best to put his frustration with Jungkook and Seokjin to the side for now, the family always came first. Yoongi had been right when he said that the criminal valued Namjoon's opinion. Jungkook would often ask him for advice or want to talk things out with him, things he wasn't comfortable discussing with Jimin. The second in command had been born into this life, but Namjoon hadn't, and Jungkook liked having an outsider's perspective on things.
"I wonder what could be so secret that Seokjin isn't allowed to know about it," Jimin murmured, as he walked past the windows. The doctor wondered about that too. It seemed like Jungkook told the hacker everything, including things he had no business knowing. Namjoon was just waiting for the marriage proposal.
The door to the office flew open with a bang, making the doctor flinch, and Jungkook stomped inside. The criminal looked absolutely furious, he was breathing heavily, and his suit had been stained with something that looked alarmingly like blood.
"What happened to you?" Jimin exclaimed, as Jungkook slammed the door and rounded on the two of them. "We have a fucking traitor!"
The criminal's words sounded more like a growl than actual human speech, and the doctor froze in place. He wasn't under suspicion, not yet at least. Jungkook would never suspect him of being a traitor, and he certainly wouldn't be telling the doctor about this if he did.
"What!? How do you know?" Jimin asked, following Jungkook to his desk. The criminal sat, really it was more like he fell onto his chair, hissing, "Taehyung told me."
That was when Namjoon finally noticed Jungkook's bruised hands. "What did you do? Did you get in a fight?" the doctor asked, gingerly taking one of the criminals' hands and inspecting his purple knuckles. The skin had split on a few of them, but at least it didn't look like Jungkook was injured anywhere else.
"I was provoked," Jungkook replied. "Tell us everything, start to finish," Jimin said, perching on the corner of the criminal's desk. "I will tell you the crucial details, and that's it. I took Jin to his salon, he is now a brunette and looks fucking fantastic. Taehyung put a stupid lock on the car, and when I went to get the key, he and I had... an altercation, he told me that he had gotten into the compound, plus a bunch of other bullshit. I hit him and then called him an ambulance, so Jin doesn't kill me. That's it."
Namjoon's shock and disbelief was mirrored on Jimin's face. "You called him an ambulance?" the doctor asked. Jungkook had never done something like that before! If he was going to hit someone, then he hit them and walked away with no remorse whatsoever. End of story. And Namjoon knew that if there was one person his friend wanted to hit right now, it was Taehyung. Why the sudden kindness towards a man the criminal thought of as his enemy?
"Yes, and it nearly killed me to do it. But you saw how Jin acted when I almost shot Taehyung, and I never even touched him that time. I lost my cool and I had to do something to try and remedy it," Jungkook replied in a rush. The criminal was clearly still agitated, Namjoon wondered what Taehyung had said to earn a beating. 'Hello' would probably have been enough.
Hoping to keep Jungkook's mind off the traitor, Namjoon asked, "And Seokjin getting his hair done was a crucial detail of your story?"
The doctor hadn't seen the hacker since the procedure this morning. Namjoon had had a little temper tantrum, he would freely admit that if confronted about it again. Seeing Seokjin after what Yoongi had told him had been so hard. He had been purposefully avoiding the hacker for days, trying to come to a decision that may very well change the course of his life, and having Seokjin there acting all fluffy hadn't helped at all.
