Peaceful. That's what Sunless felt, sitting at the edge of his bed. Staring at the radiant moon through his window, illuminating his room with silvester rays of light.

The academy walls towered around the facility, their pitch-black appearance enhancing the beacon of light hanging in the sky.

Sunny seldom felt at peace, yet now he felt more peaceful than ever.

Stepping out to the balcony, he admired the priceless scenery before him.

It was a sight to behold, it felt like the moon spoke to him, like he and the sphere have known each other forever.

And that was a fact. Growing up, on those lonesome nights, his only companion was the orb floating around Earth.

He talked, every night. Talking with the moon like they were best buddies, venting his problems to it, and the moon talked back.

Languidly sitting in his rocking chair, he stargazed, getting lost in the far, but yet close pecks of light in the dark sky.

Turning his attention back to the academy walls, Sunny's thoughts drifted elsewhere, something he forgot he used to do long ago.

His lips slowly parted, and looking up at the moon, he spoke quietly.

"How nice would it be to get high again, I'm a sleeper now after all..."

He lived in the slums his whole life, and it was no surprise he was familiar with narcotics.

He stared at the moon, hoping that it would reciprocate his longing gaze.

But to no avail, the moon stayed the same, shining down on the academy.

The memories of smoking with strangers in the slums felt heartwarming for some reason, but Sunny took that for granted. Back then, it felt like everyday life, being a stoner.

Barely anyone made it out of the slums, and the few rare cases who did. Were saved by the spell, which there was no guarantee to get, or survive.

Slumping back inside his room, he put on his trenchcoat and boots. Then wrapped gloomy around his body, blending himself in with the darkness.

Stepping on the edge of the railing, he leaped forward with all his might. Landing quietly on the ground, he swiftly hid behind a tree, not alerting any guards.

Continuing onwards, he carefully routed in between the patrol areas and was now standing in front of the massive wall.

Sunny stood still momentarily, contemplating whether he should climb the enormous wall, or sneak through the main entrance.

After pondering for a while, he decided on the latter option. Covering the wall would take too much time, and he was not in the mood for climbing.

Not making any sounds, he approached the main entrance, where 2 guards stood place. One in his outpost, the other one walking around the outer area.

Steadying his heartbeat, Sunny leaped to the outpost, and pressed his back against the granite, as if merging with the stone.

Staying in that position for a few moments, he slowly awaited his opportunity.

Sensing that both guards looked in the other direction, he got out of his position and dashed away.

It took Sunny barely a second to disappear into the embrace of the city, out of reach of the guards.

Slowing down to a stop, he retreated gloomy and took off his hood.

Taking in the full view of the bustling streets and blinding lights, Sunny let out an exhilarated sigh, he made it.
