(Averey Peterson's POV)

Matthew isn't back yet, but on the other side I'm kinda glad. It gives me time to think, time for better judgement. I can't believe that he came to visit me after knowing that I am in the hospital. He didn't even think twice. However, I don't know how to feel. I know that I still love him and that that is never going to change.

He broke up with me a little bit after Adrian's death while I was still grieving. When he did it only made my grief worse. It hurt like hell, he acted like I didn't exist when we saw each other in the hallway. He ghosted me completely. What if something similar to what happened happens again?

I sighed at the thought and shook my head. Oh well, I thought, I'm only going to see him for a week at the most. It isn't like we're going to try again at our relationship. We live in two completely different states. He'll have to go back home soon. There's nothing I should be worried about.

That's just logical thinking... My heart whispered. You have absolutely everything to be worried about.

I grabbed my phone absent-mindedly and scrolled through my pictures of me and him together. Before I knew it, Matthew walked through the door with my backpack, folder files, and two frapachinos.

He sits down beside me reluctantly, he has a funny look on his face. It is like one of those unreadable expressions that I never could understand. One of those expressions that told me something is wrong and he is trying to hide it.

He took my backpack off his back, "I got all your assignments from your classes. Some of your teachers told me to come back for next week's assignments or to have your brother drop them off for you. All your textbooks and your computer is in your backpack right here. Also, I got your favorite frapachino,".

I smiled, "Thank you,".

"Uh-huh," he said shortly.

I frowned, I definitely know something is wrong, "Are you okay?".

"Yeah," He said.

I shook my head, "what's wrong?".

"Nothing!" he said, acting innocent.

"Matthew, c'mon, tell me, please," I begged.

"I ran into Pierce," He noted.

I blinked confused, "Who?".

He knitted his eyebrows together, "Pierce? Your boyfriend?".

"Matthew, I don't know who or what on God's earth you're talking about. I'd know if I had a boyfriend and I don't." I said, trying to understand his reasoning.

He stared at me with a blank expression, then something came to his mind. However, he kept his thoughts to himself.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked hesitantly.

"Nothing, the kid just sounded very convincing. And just a jerk. I don't know why you'd ever get up with someone like that-" Matthew said.

"MATTHEW! WHO IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? Who is Pierce? Is this some kind of test? I'm confused, please explain!" I begged.

He stared at me, rather confused himself, "Pierce Fletcher, he goes to your school. He says that you're his girlfriend,".

I shook my head, "I don't know who that is...".

"You probably.... Don't remember him then." He said slowly and looked down at the floor.

I shook my head again, "Matthew, I believe I'd know if I had a boyfriend, EVEN if I have a little bit of brain trauma,".
