CHAPTER ONE

KAYDEN

Life can kick you hard in butt and it stings. I never thought I'd be packing my bags and leaving this big town because I'm scared my boyfriend will not only beat me this time but will kill me....oh he is my ex boyfriend I just called him and told him it's over and he did not take it well he cussed and called me all names you could think off. I have never been scared in my life like this. Brandon was nice when we meet he treated like any boyfriend in love would do but all changed when I got my dream job to be an editor on this big company but I have my own money even if I don't work I won't be broke. I'm really rich. . He started acting weird and would tell me I should not be working he will provide for me but I never agreed with him. I thought things went back to normal but one day I got back from work and found him drinking in the lounge he had keys to my apartment and I also had his, so he started asking me weird questions like "You think you have made it huh?" "Why did you take that job?" "You think you are better than me now?" all that time I was just frozen stunned at his questions but what really made me scared and shocked me was when he slapped me hard on my face I stumble backwards with my hand touching left side in shock. He glance at his hand then started pacing up and down. I was in shock with my face burning in pain tears left my eyes.

"You see what you made me do!". He roared I took steps back.

"Plea-se leave Brandon". My voice was shaking in fear.

"YOU DID THIS IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT!". This time he turned into an animal I've never seen before. I acted fast when I ran out of my apartment to my car and driving out fast to my friend place. After that day I never went to my apartment for two days then Juliet went to check if Brandon was still there but she found no one. I went back and changed the locks so that he won't let himself in next time. I never picked up his calls then one day I was not working just chilling at home watching a series when I heard a knock. I hesitated going to open because I was scared he has come back to make things worse. I slowly walked to the door with my shaking hands I finally open it finding Brandon looking like a mess. I fold my arms looking at him

"You're lucky I never got you arrested. I don't want to see you ever again". He groans loud.

"Where you cheating on me?". I widen my eyes in shock and confusion.

"What?". I choked out clearly in disbelief with his question.

"Are you surprised because you though I won't know about it". I frowned hearing this.

"Have you lost your mind?, what are you talking about?". I have not let him inside and I won't let him in lord knows what he will do to me.

"I know you cheated on me Kayden you're not a saint!". He yelled and I knew that I made a mistake opening the door for him.

"You crazy Brandon you are fucking insane". I yelled back trying to close the door at his face but he was fast he pushed it and got inside. My breath hitched he looks angry and I'm scared of what's coming.

"Did you just call me crazy Kayden? huh? DO I LOOK CRAZY TO YOU!". He punched my face hard I fell down groaning then a kick went straight to my stomach. "You fucking bitch you thought you could play me huh". I groan in pain when he continues to kick me angrily on my body I made sure to protect my face. I bit my lip hard not wanting to cry. He stops kicking and I thought that was it but I gasped when I felt a sharp pain on my left thigh I let out a loud scream which turned into a wail because this is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Did he just stab me? I feel the room spinning then I don't know what happened after that.

The next day I woke up in a hospital bed with Juliet sleeping next to me she has bags under her sleep which told me she did not get enough sleep and knowing Juliet she was probably crying. How did I get here? Where is Brandon? I touch my left thigh to confirm if what happened was real and yes it was I found my answer. I fight tears in my eyes. Juliet sniff waking up my friend was crying I'm hurt seeing her like this just because I could not see the red flags of my boyfriend sooner. She jumps and hugs me tight we stay like that for a while then we let go.
