Today was the day. Her first day at Greystone Hall. Of course she didn't sleep one bit, just like the day before the initiation ceremony, but that gave her plenty of time to get ready at a non stressful pace.
She put on her freshly washed uniform which she had to admire again in the mirror. The way it hugged her curves in just the right places was magnificent. For her first day she decided to straighten her hair, which she normally doesn't do and put in a headband to tie the look together. Her makeup was held lowkey since she didn't need makeup to look and feel pretty. She was a natural beauty which some girls definetly were jealous of but she made the most of it.
After putting on her shoes she slung her bag over shoulder and grabbed her favorite cereal bar to eat on the way. Then she plugged in her headphones and went on her way.
At dawn the walk to the university was certainly a nicer experience. The sunbeams fought themselves through the thickness of the orange trees, shining a beautiful gold light on Jasmins pale skin every now and then. The air smelled like fresh gras, damp wood and rain, just how she liked it. Autumn was by no means her favorite season but she could still enjoy the pretty things it had to offer
And there it was: the university. It didn't look near as creepy when the sun hit the gray structure and made the stained-glass windows reflect on the floor. It actually looked really beautiful.
Jasmin took a quick look at her schedule to find out where her first class was.
"Room 278, Hall 2. Now where the fuck is that supposed to be?"
Yes, she did get a tour around the university a few days ago but still.. the building was huge. She doubted if she would ever find orientation in this maze of a school.
Confused but determined the entered the halls. By now, the halls were buzzing with students talking and walking to their first class. Looking around desperatly, she tried to find someone she recognized from the ceremony but to no avail.
Just as she sighed she felt a tap on her shoulder. The sight from Jasmins point of view as she turned around could've been depicted in an art book. In front of her stood a tall, good-looking man, smiling at her. The sunbeams from the open entrance of the university surrounded his silouette, making him look like an actual angel. His parted black hair fell flawlessy over the sides of his face and his dark brown eyes were to die for.
"Excuse me?" the man said. "You're a new student right? I saw you at the initiation ceremony and i thought you might need help getting around here? I still remember my first weeks here. Walked around like a lost child in a supermarket and-" he let out a chuckle. "I'm so sorry for rambling. I'm Jake" he held out his hand for her to shake.
Jasmin was still in awe by the image in front of her and how such a handsome man approached her, of all people. She took his hand and and shook it, a small smile forming on her face.
"I'm Jasmin." she managed to mutter, too shy to hold eye contact. "Yes, i'm new here and your help would be much appreciated. I have no idea where i have to go. Everything is so overwhelming.."
Jake let out another chuckle and nodded. "Believe me, i know how that feels like, so i thought, why not lift this burden from a new students shoulders! What room are you searching for?"
She gives him her schedule and points to the first period. "This one."
Jake gestures for her to follow him. Only then she noticed how everyone in a radius of a few meters was starring at her. She held her head low, not daring to look back at someone's judging gaze.
While Jake was leading her to the classroom he told her some information, that he deemed important, like what meals to avoid at the cafeteria, how long the school shop was open (yes, the school has a whole shop that sell items from snacks to school supplies) and who not to mess with, if she wanted to have a somewhat pleasant school experience.
"Aaand here we are! Room 278, Hall 2" he gestured to the door and smiled. "I hope i didn't ramble too much"
Jasmin shook her head. "No! I appreciate the intell,i really do."
Jake bid his goodbyes and made his way to his own class. She straightened out her skirt and entered the classroom. Not a lot of people were sitting there yet. Seems like Jasmin wasn't the only one struggling to find the room. She decided to take a seat at the second row which was empty, as she was too shy to sit down next to someone else.
After the minutes passed, more and more students entered the classroom, relief evident on their faces that they made it there just in time. The last student to arrive was a girl. She had long dark brown hair with blonde bangs and platform boots that made her much taller than she actually was. She was clearly out of breath, her eyes wandering around the classroom to find an empty seat, her gaze stopping at the seat next to Jasmin.
The girl took the handle from her bag in her hand and sat down without saying a word. Shortly after a teacher entered and the first period began. It was Literature. The teacher just rambled something about how things are gonna go in his class, what subject he will tackle and so on.
After class, Jasmin got up from her seat, not wanting to waste any time in the classroom and trying to find the next room as quickly as possible. Just as she was about to leave, a voice called behind her.
"Hey blondie! Wait!"
Feeling spoken to, she turned around to see the girl, that sat next to her, walking up to her.
"You forgot your phone. It must've fallen out of your pocket." She handed her the phone with an expression Jasmin couldn't exactly read.
"Oh- thank you. I didn't even notice." Jasmin chuckled awkwardly.
They exited to classroom, only to find Jake leaned against a locker with a grin.
"I told you, i don't need a babysitter, Jake." the girl rolled her eyes.
"Actually.. it's not you i was waiting for. Came here for Jasmin" Jake turned his gaze to Jasmin with a smile.
"You know each other?" The girl asked surprised.
"We met this morning. I showed her the way here." Jake grinned proudly.
"Always playing the hero, i see." she looked unimpressed at Jake before turning to Jasmin.
"I'm Jenny."
Jasmin was a little confused and somewhat flattered that Jake was waiting for her and why the two seemed to know each other quiet well.
"Nice to meet you. I am Jasmin." she smiled, a little overwhelmed by the situation.
"Come on! I'll show you where your next class will be" He gestured for them to follow him.
The two girls followed him as Jenny began to whisper: "Don't fall for his charm. He's really annoying once you spend more time with him."
Jake turned around, pretending to be hurt by her statement while smirking.
Jasmins curiosity got the best of her so she decided to ask how it came that we knew each other.
"Jenny's a family friend. We've known each other since we were little little kids. She was always this unimpressed and moody, unlike me, who's the life of every party"
Jenny just rolled her eyes as a response, not giving him any more of her attention.
The day went by rather quickly, Jake picking the girls up after every class and showing them the next room, like the gentleman he is but she couldn't ignore the stares of the girls around them, everytime they walked and talked with Jake.
In the evening Jasmin plopped herself onto her bed, looking back at her first day with fondness, falling asleep rather quickly.
