The sunlight peeked through the blinds as I stood in the hospital room, my heart racing with anticipation. Taylor was finally being discharged, and I could hardly believe it. After all the heartache and uncertainty, she was coming home. I could see her sitting on the edge of the bed, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of the hospital gown, a mix of excitement and anxiety dancing in her eyes.

"Are you ready to go, Tay?" I asked, stepping closer.

She looked up at me, her expression softening. "Yeah, I just... I can't believe it's actually happening."

I smiled at her, trying to convey all the support I felt. "We've got this. It's time to go home."

With a few final checks from the nurses, Taylor was finally free. I helped her into the car, her body still fragile but her spirit shining through. Leo was in the backseat, animatedly chatting about all the toys he had received during her hospital stay. His excitement was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile as I glanced in the rearview mirror at his animated face.

"Are we home yet, Daddy?" Leo asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"Not yet, buddy, but we're almost there," I assured him as I pulled out of the hospital parking lot.

The drive felt surreal. I glanced at Taylor, who was gazing out the window, taking in the world that had felt so distant for so long. I reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. She turned to me and smiled, a small but meaningful gesture that made my heart soar.

Once we arrived home, Leo hopped out of the car before I could even park properly. "I'm going to get my toys!" he yelled, racing toward the door.

"Hold on, buddy!" I called after him, chuckling at his eagerness. I helped Taylor out of the car and wrapped my arm around her waist as we walked inside together.

"Wow! Look at all my toys!" Leo exclaimed, running into the living room and diving into the pile of colorful new action figures and stuffed animals.

"Looks like you've got plenty to keep you busy," I said, watching him with amusement. Taylor smiled at Leo, her eyes shining with love and relief.

"Let's get you a bath, Tay," I suggested, noticing the weariness in her posture.

"Sounds good," she replied, her voice soft.

I led her to the bathroom, filling the tub with warm water. The steam rose gently, creating a cozy atmosphere. As she settled onto the edge of the tub, I handed her a soft towel and smiled. "Take your time, and let me help you."

With a nod of appreciation, Taylor stepped into the tub, letting the warm water envelop her. I grabbed the shampoo, pouring a small amount into my palm before moving behind her. Gently, I worked through her hair, feeling the silky strands glide through my fingers.

"Thank you," she murmured, closing her eyes and leaning back against me, a quiet sigh escaping her lips.

"Anytime, Tay. You deserve this," I replied, taking my time as I rinsed her hair and washed her body with care. I was acutely aware of the bruises that marred her skin, reminders of the struggles she had faced. My heart ached for her, but I was determined to show her how much she was loved.

Once she was clean, I helped her out of the tub, wrapping her in a towel. "Let's get you dressed," I said, guiding her to the bedroom. I helped her into soft, comfortable clothes, making sure she was as cozy as possible.

"Thanks, Travis. I really appreciate it," she said, her voice tinged with gratitude.

"Always," I replied, feeling a sense of fulfillment as I helped her.
