Isis's Point of View

The medics worked quickly, tending to Lucian's wound and trying to stabilize him. I stood nearby, my heart heavy with guilt and fear. I had lost control, and now Lucian was paying the price. As I watched them work, Draven pulled me aside, his expression serious.

"Isis, we need to talk," he said, his voice low.

I nodded, my throat tight with emotion. "I know, Draven. I messed up. But why is it so dire? Why is biting someone without their approval so dangerous?"

Draven sighed, his eyes filled with a mix of concern and frustration. "There are ancient laws that govern our kind, laws that have been in place for centuries. Biting someone without their permission is a grave offense because it can have severe consequences for both the biter and the bitten."

He paused, gathering his thoughts. "When a werewolf or a vampire bites someone, it creates a powerful bond between them. This bond is not just physical but also emotional and spiritual. It can alter the very essence of the person being bitten, changing them in ways that are often unpredictable and dangerous."

I listened intently, trying to understand the gravity of what I had done. "But why is it only allowed between fated mates?"

Draven nodded, his expression softening slightly. "Fated mates are destined to be together. Their bond is natural and strong, and the bite serves to strengthen that bond. It is a way of marking each other as partners for life, a symbol of their commitment and love. Because their bond is fated, the bite does not have the same dangerous consequences as it would with others."

He looked at me, his eyes piercing. "When you bite someone without their permission, you force a bond that is unnatural and unstable. It can lead to a loss of control, madness, or even death. The darkness within you can spread to the person you bite, corrupting them and causing untold harm."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as his words sank in. "So, by biting Lucian, I..."

"You put him at great risk," Draven finished. "The darkness within you could spread to him, and it could have dire consequences. We need to act quickly to save him."

Lucian's Point of View

The pain was excruciating, but it was the darkness that terrified me the most. I could feel it spreading through my veins, a cold, invasive force that threatened to consume me. The medics worked tirelessly, trying to stabilize me, but I knew that time was running out.

As I lay there, I couldn't help but think about the ancient laws that governed our kind. Biting someone without their permission was a serious offense, one that could have fatal consequences. I had always known the risks, but I had never imagined that I would be on the receiving end.

Flashback

Centuries ago, when I was first turned into a vampire, I had learned about the laws of the bite. My sire had explained the importance of consent, the dangers of forcing a bond that was not meant to be. I had seen firsthand the madness that could result from an unauthorized bite, the way it could corrupt and destroy.

End of Flashback

As the darkness continued to spread, I knew that I had to fight it. I couldn't let it consume me, couldn't let it take control. I focused on the bond I had with the Shadow Pack, the loyalty and strength that had guided me for centuries. I would not let this darkness win.

Isis's Point of View

Draven's explanation left me feeling even more guilty and afraid. I had put Lucian at great risk, and I didn't know if he would survive. As the medics continued to work, I could see the strain on their faces, the urgency in their movements.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked, my voice trembling.

Draven shook his head. "The medics are doing everything they can. We need to give them time."

I nodded, feeling helpless. All I could do was wait and hope that Lucian would pull through. The weight of my actions pressed down on me, a constant reminder of the darkness within me.

Draven's Point of View

As I watched the medics work, I couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency. Lucian was one of our strongest fighters, and losing him would be a devastating blow to the Shadow Pack. But more than that, he was my friend, my partner. I couldn't let him die.

I turned to Isis, my expression serious. "You need to understand the gravity of what you've done. Biting someone without their permission is a serious offense, and the consequences can be dire. But we will do everything we can to save Lucian."

She nodded, her eyes filled with guilt and determination. "I understand, Draven. I'll do whatever it takes to make this right."

As we waited for the medics to finish, I couldn't help but think about the future. The Blood Moon Syndicate was still a threat, and Morgana's magic made her a formidable enemy. But with Isis on our side, we had a chance to turn the tide. We just needed to make sure that Lucian survived.
