Falling For Humans (Steam Powered Giraffe Fanfic) ON HOLD

Part 1

It was raining in New York. Despite the bad weather the 2016 Comic-con was in full swing. Rift, a young girl, was with a few of her friends dancing to the loud music coming from her black Beats Pill. The song "Yoga" by Janelle Monàe was playing. Rift and her best friend Rick {who ironically was cosplaying as Rick Grimes} were singing along. People gathered to watched them. Rift sung loud as the circle of people got bigger and bigger. Her Steam Punk goggles almost fell off her head.

She was exited and was really hype because it was her first comic-con. Even better, her first time singing and dancing in public. But in all truth, she was only there to see Steam Powered Giraffe, a band of 3 main people. Rabbit, Hatchworth, and The Spine. The Spine was her favorite. He had something about him that made him sophisticated. It was awesome. He could make his voice go from really low to high pitched and almost girly. Rick was in love with Rabbit and severely wished for a hug.

The song ended with pleasant laughter from the friends and impressive cheering from the crowd. Rift and Rick high-fived. One of their other friends, Gidgit, threw Rift her guitar and smiled to the crowd.

"One more, Kay?" The crowd clapped and when she started to play a slower song. She began sing softly, "Like I'm Gonna Lose You". Someone in the crowd caught her eye making her play flawlessly. It was The Spine! She almost lost it when she realized he was watching her, smiling. She sang loud and proud with a giant grin on her face. Rick and Gidgit became back-up singers for her, and soon enough the song came to an end she bowed with her two friends. Rick took off his hat and walked around getting much appreciated donations. Gidgit leaned close to her ear and whispered: " You did see who was watching you, right?" She just nodded and silently put her guitar in its case. Music still came from her radio but it was turned down. She didn't realize that her idols were all standing behind her. She heard a feminine but still male voice behind her.

"Hi! I-I-I'm Rabbit!" She stood quickly trying to be at least somewhat graceful but failed miserably. She stumbled some before bowing.

"It's an honor~." Her goggles clumsily slid off her head to be hanging around her neck. It made the 3 chuckle. She shot daggers at Gidgit and Rick when they laughed loudly. Rabbit spoke again drawing her attention back.

"If you know me then I-I-I guess you know Hatchworth and T-t-the Spine~!" Rift nodded with a pleasant smile.

"Of course. It's nice to meet you guys as well." Rick suddenly tapped on Rabbits shoulder and Rift knew what was coming.

"Um. Rabbit? c-can I have a hug?" He asked excitedly. Rabbit of course agreed and the two hugged. You could see the giddiness on Ricks face. She looked over to see Hatchworth and Gidgit having a unusually intellectual conversations on guitars and machines, leaving her and The Spine to talk among the two of them.

"So what is your name?" His deep voice was intoxicating.

"Rift. Rift Harmony." The Spine raised a brow with a grin.

"Really? A beautiful name to match the beautiful voice." That made her heart spring and begin to race. She couldn't even contain her happiness. She smiled wide and giggled.

"Aw! Thanks so much!" He chuckled at her exitment, and to fuel it more, he robotically moved onto one knee, took her hand, and gently kissed it. She blushed a firey red color. His lips were cold and metalic. Rabbit and Hatchworth laughed making The Spine stand quickly and rub the back of his neck embarrassed. He gave the smaller female a gentle smile.

"C'mon Spine! We gotta g-g-go!" Rabbit and Hatchworth waved to Rift and her friends and walked off. The Spine sighed and took her goggles and slid them onto her head.

"Till we meet again Rift." He smiled and tipped his hat with a kind grin and followed after his brother/sister and friend. Rick and Gidgit stood behind her. They laughed and nuged her back and forth between them.

"You love The Spiiiiiiiine~." Rick mocked. She elbowed him in the stomach and he fell back gasping. Gidgit burst out laughing. Rift stared in the direction in which The Spine walked.

"Maybe."
