I really don't know wither it took a long time or not to finally get into the city. Apparently in the zombie apocalypses, days start to blur together and you lose track of time. When I finally did get to the city, was, surprisingly, the Chamber of Commerce. Call it strange, but I actually thought this out. Whats the one thing you always start with in the video games? The one thing I don't have right now? A map. And one of the bast places to get a good map of the city is the Chamber of Commerce. It takes me forever to find the Chamber of Commerce and even longer to find the map once I got there. The map, once i found it, was well worth it. Where would I be without a map? That and the added plus that the Chamber of Commerce was (virtually) empty of zombies. Yeah, that's always a plus. After I had my map, and had it laminated, I decided to go on a supplies run. The trip to the city from the suburbs drained a lot of my supplies since I was trying to travel light and travel fast. I leave the Chamber of Commerce and head to a near by convenience store. I would have gone to the mall, but i have a sneaking suspicion that it will be crawling with zombies. Any place that was always crawling with humans before the zombie apocalypse is probably crawling with zombies by now. Malls are on my list of places to avoid along with police stations and hospitals. Most people probably rushed to these places as soon as they realized what was going on, so they are off limits. Anyways, there is a door that leads down into the store from the roof of the convenience store, so I use that to get in instead of risking going down to the street. The stairs go to a smallish upper lever that overlooks the main floor. It's where the manager and people probably worked, based on the shatters computers and overturned vending machine.Firstly I survey the main floor for any zombies. There are two, but with the automatic doors, I'm sure more will come pouring in if I make too much noise. As quietly as i can, I unzip my back pack and shove a few things from the vending machine into it. Only the more healthy things, I don't think that getting fat would be all that beneficial to my cause. Once I've got all of that that I think I'll need for the foreseeable future, I re-zip my pack and make a daring move. I leap from the office floor onto the top of one of the shelves. I do it just hoe Blake and I used to when we were trying to sneak around the house, I make almost no noise when I land. I freeze and check the position of the zombies. The one that's farther away, close to the door, doesn't seem to have heard me, but the closer one is grunting and shambling my way. That is not a good sign. At all. As quick and quiet as I possibly can, I dart over the shelves and away from the zombie. It stops under where I had been standing and sniffs around, but doesn't look like it's certain that I was there. I heave a silent sigh of relief, I'm safe for now. Staying on top of the shelves I pull resources: canned food, water bottles and a loaf of bread, from the top shelves and make to leave the same way i came in. Just one problem, The zombie from before, It's still there. It is standing right under the place i need to be to jump back into the office area and it is plenty tall enough to reach up and grab me if i'm not careful. With a steadying breath I all but sprint across the shelves and throw myself into the office area. Both of the zombie's heads snap up and towards me and they start shambling towards the stairs to get to the office area, but by the time they reach the top, I'm long gone. For a while I just run blindly over the rooftops, my only thought to get away from the danger as my heart pounds erratically in my chest, beating against my rib cage, until I exhaust myself and have to stop. Maybe exhausting myself isn't such a good idea either... Looking around myself I find that I'm in a part of the city closer to the center, where the buildings get taller and I have to jump up to get to the next one. Looking down revels countless zombies in torn business suits milling about the streets and sidewalks. Up may be hard, but down is definitely a no-go. To my left i spot the tale-tail sigh of an amusement part bu the tall roller coasters and ever recognizable ferris wheel. I'll bet that's another place that is over run with zombies. I go to turn and jog in the opposite direction, but something, a gut feeling i guess, makes me turn back around and continue staring at the amusement park. I shake my head at my self, but follow my probably going to get me killed impulse and start off toward the amusement park anyways. I get to the park and get as close as I can while staying on the buildings. Perches on a big cleaning supplies warehouse, I can overlook a good portion of the park. It has tall, thick brick walls all the way around to ward off any would be trespassers and the heavy wrought iron gates are locked shut with three big padlocks. I guess they were closed when the apocalypse happened? It seems that I have found myself something interesting, haven't I. Anyways, there doesn't appear to be a single zombie inside since there appears to be no way to get in other that over the walls and zombies, thank God, cannot fly.
