INT. AVENGERS COMPOUND – SITTING ROOM – DAYAll the Avengers are gathered in the sitting room area of the Avengers compound. They're debating whether to sign the Sokovia Accords. Bruce sits next to Natasha, who hasn't said a word to him or the group. She's been staring blankly ahead for a while, her thoughts unreadable, and Bruce struggles to make sense of her silence. He's also trying to make a decision for himself, but the weight of it is pressing down on him, leaving him quiet, listening to the conversation unfold around him.
Tony stands by the kitchen counter, holding a photograph of one of the victims from their mission in Sokovia. His voice is heavy with emotion as he tries to explain his reasoning.
TONY
"Look, if we can't accept limitations, if we're boundaryless... we're no better than the bad guys."STEVE
(firmly)
"Tony, someone dies on our watch, you don't just give up."TONY
(waving the picture)
"Who says we're giving up?"STEVE
"We are if we don't take responsibility for our actions. This document just shifts the blame."Bruce listens quietly, reflecting on Tony's words. As much as he wants to deny it, Tony has a point. But they've all put civilian lives at risk, and in Bruce's case, his lack of control over the Hulk is a constant source of guilt. If he had to pay for every building he's ever destroyed, every life impacted by his actions, he'd be in debt for the rest of his life.
RHODES
(sincerely)
"Sorry, Steve, but that's dangerously arrogant."BRUCE
(speaking up, his voice low but steady)
"Right... Like the Hulk, for instance. I could destroy many more things than any other person could imagine. But we all know the Hulk will always be a threat, whether I like it or not—there's no way to prevent that."The room falls quiet for a moment. Everyone starts to argue, except Natasha, who remains silent, still deep in thought. Then, unexpectedly, Natasha's voice breaks the tension.
NATASHA
(murmuring)
"Maybe Tony's right..."Bruce turns to her, surprised and slightly disappointed. He didn't expect her to side with Tony.
NATASHA
"If we have one hand on the wheel, we can still steer. But if we take it off..."SAM
(interrupting)
"Aren't you the same woman who told the government to kiss are asses a few years ago?"NATASHA
(exhaling)
"I'm just reading the terrain. We made some very public mistakes. We need to win their trust back."TONY
(perking up)
"Focus up. I'm sorry, did I mishear you, or did you just agree with me?"Natasha hesitates, realizing she just agreed with the person she's often clashed with.
NATASHA
(smirking)
"Oh no, I want to take it back."TONY
(mockingly)
"No, no, you can't reject it. Thank you. In unprecedented... "NATASHA feels Bruce's gaze on her now, something she had forgotten in the heat of the moment. She glances at him, seeing the mix of emotions on his face—surprise, confusion, maybe even a little hurt.
The conversation continues across the room, with Steve abruptly getting up and walking off, phone in hand. Bruce remains silent, his mind racing. He wants to talk to Natasha, to understand her stance, but the words won't come. Instead, he leans forward, elbows on his knees, his brow furrowed in thought.
INT. AVENGERS COMPOUND – NATASHA'S ROOM – LATE NIGHT
A few hours later, everyone has gone to bed. Bruce stands outside Natasha's room, hesitating for a moment before knocking. When the door opens, Natasha stands there, a little surprised but with a calm expression. Bruce's face shows the weight of everything on his mind.
BRUCE
(thoughtfully)
"... Are you really sure about signing?"Natasha crosses her arms, leaning against the doorframe. She watches him for a moment, seeing the turmoil in his eyes before stepping aside to let him in. She shuts the door softly behind her, a heavy silence filling the room.
NATASHA
(quietly, thoughtful)
"Sure? No. But... it feels like our only real option. We've made mistakes, Bruce. Big ones. We have to take responsibility for them somehow."Bruce paces across the room, his thoughts racing. He gets what she's saying, but it feels different for him. He stops, turning back toward her.
BRUCE
"Responsibility? For me, that's different. When I lose control... I can't just fix it. I can't trust Ross, or anyone, to have that kind of power over me. You know what that means for me."Natasha watches him, understanding the pain in his words. She steps closer, her voice soft but firm.
NATASHA
(determine)
"I know, Bruce. but since the last few months we haven't seen any sign of the code green. But if it happens.. I can handle you. We've done it before, and we'll do it again."Her words cut deeper than she means them to. Bruce shakes his head, frustration growing.
BRUCE
"This isn't about you calming me down when I lose it. This is about them controlling when I even get a choice. Ross doesn't care about me—about any of us. If something goes wrong, I'm the one who can't come back from it."There's a silence between them, the tension thick. Natasha steps forward again, her eyes softening, showing more vulnerability than usual.
NATASHA
"I'm not saying I have all the answers. I don't. But I know that if we don't do something, if we don't try to make up for the damage we've caused, no one's going to trust us again."Bruce exhales, running a hand through his hair, still torn. He wants to believe her, but he knows what's at stake—what he's capable of. And if it goes wrong... it's not something anyone else can clean up.
BRUCE
"I just don't know if this is the answer. It's not that simple for me."Natasha places a hand on his arm, her voice gentler now.
NATASHA
(softly)
"I know it's not. I get it. You don't have to decide tonight. But... this feels like the only path forward, even if it's not perfect."Bruce doesn't respond right away. He's still caught in the middle of his own inner conflict, the uncertainty gnawing at him. He looks down, trying to gather his thoughts.
BRUCE
(small nod)
"I'll... think about it."Natasha nods back, respecting his need for space. She turns, taking a step back, but then looks at him again, her voice a little softer.
NATASHA
"Just for your information.. I'm leaving for Vienna tomorrow. For the court session. we would appreciate it if you come with us when you made your choice"Bruce's face tightens, the weight of the situation hanging between them. still processing everything.
BRUCE
(difficult smile)
"you know I can't do that..."Natasha tilts her head slightly, a small smile playing on her lips despite everything.
NATASHA
(soft smile)
"I know... but anyway..."
(step forward)
"...Is that the only reason you came here?"Bruce looks at her, knowing exactly what she means. They both do. Their place is playful smile on the corner of his lips.
BRUCE
(playing shy)
"Maybe..."Without another word, he steps closer, closing the distance between them. Their eyes lock, and the tension melts into something else entirely. He leans in, and their lips meet in a deep, passionate kiss.
It's not about the Accords anymore. For tonight, it's just about them—about needing each other in the chaos. Natasha pulls him closer, and they move toward the bed, silently deciding that for now, the rest of the world can wait.
