I gave my hand in writing smut for them, though it ended up being more implied smut. Begins at ~~~~~~~ for those who wish to skip. First time writing it as well so please be kind about it.Being alive was an adjustment. While she had grown used to moving and inhabiting a living body, there was always an undertone, a connection in the back of her mind that reminded her that she wasn't actually alive. Now though. Her mind had never felt more clear, more awake than it did in this moment. She had never felt more awake, even as the stars shown in the night sky above.
With the destruction of Hometree the clan was temporarily staying outside hell's gate until they could decide where to move to. With her arrival though and subsequent waking up things had only moved forward it seemed. Jake had been so relieved to see her alive, telling her all that she missed even though Gene hadn't missed it like he thought.
Her time between Quaritch stabbing her box and her waking up anew in her body was hazy, brief glimpses of her time spent in machines and creatures sometimes surfacing when she tried to remember. Moat had been kind enough to explain that for the time she was severed and adrift she had been in Eywa. On some level Gene thinks she saw Grace there when she passed, when she entered and was too tired to go back. It reminded her though that there was someone else who was in need of moving on.
The locket was small in her hand, made for humans more than Navi, but Tom had been kind enough to change the chain for a larger one. She hadn't had a chance to wear the locket, the piece of jewelry remaining in the box she'd been sent in. It was simple in design, silver and just large enough to hold some of Grace's ashes. It was time her creator, her first mother, was laid to rest.
Txopu, while not as close to her as Amhul had been, understood his mates feelings towards Gene. He showed her where Amhul had been laid to rest beneath the tree of souls, her body already one with Pandora and her spirit with Eywa. Flowers had grown over in a thick mass where she'd been lain, Gene crouched before the grave. Did Amhul understand her feelings? Did she know what Gene had been feeling before she did? She wished she knew if Amhul knew how much Gene cherished her, but Amhul was gone and Gene would not bring up painful memories when and if she saw her in Eywa.
Her ears twitched at the quiet sound of footsteps, tail flicking to the side as the body came to stand beside her.
"What are you doing?"
As much as she loathed Quaritch for all the pain and suffering he caused them, she was also in a way thankful. What was supposed to kill her, only served to set her free. His blade severed any strings binding her to her box and allowed her to truly live.
She looked up with a soft smile, Tsu'tey crouching down to be eye level with her as he took in the locket in her hand.
"I am laying my creator, my first mother, to rest finally. I think she'd like it here, a place full of life and free of the pain she felt." He gently took it in hand, turning it over and noting the vines and leaves etched into the silver.
"Jake's brother placed her ashes in there before his death for me. I didn't understand the sentiment at the time when he did, but I am grateful he did now. I know how much she meant to me."
"Good. She deserves rest in death." He handed the locket back to her, watching as she dug a small hole before placing the locket inside and burying it.
"She is with Eywa now."
"I'm glad." She breathed, closing her eyes as she softly cried. Emotions were hard, they were overwhelming and suffocating. And she wouldn't trade them for what she used to have as she leaned into Tsu'tey's palm when he wiped her tears away.
