Chapter One: Wake Me Up Please

My mom woke me up this beautiful fall morning with a hug a kiss and a "Good morning Luna bear". Then I remembered first it's Sunday, second it's my ninth birthday! We had the whole day planned out. First we will dress up and go to a cafe nearby and get coffee for mom and hot chocolate for me. Next we will come back home and binge watch my favorite show which as of late is Octonauts. Then we will go to the park and have a lunch picnic underneath the colorful trees. After lunch then we will go and meet up with the rest of the family for dinner at Cheddar Chucks. At the cafe as planned mom got coffee and I got hot chocolate but my mom surprised me with a scone as well! When we had finished I noticed that a man in all black had been watching us for a while but I shook it off like Taylor swift and moved on.

At home we changed into comfy clothes and sat down on the couch, my mom was calm I was so excited I was bouncing on the couch begging the TV to hurry up. Finally the screen started to play the Octonauts theme song and I sang along wholeheartedly word for word. "Wow just wow" I said after the two new episodes were done speechless I turned to my mother "did you see how fast Peso was bandaging that poor walrus?". "Yes dear I did" my mother replied a bit preoccupied with lunch preparations but she always replied to me no matter what the circumstances were. My jaw was on the floor and she was chuckling to herself on how cute I seemed I guess? I personally think I'm as fierce as a tiger so no one should giggle at me and that is why I am justified to sulk for at least five minutes, possibly ten, max fifteen.

After my sulk session I go get ready for our picnic. I have a white beret on with a light blue blouse that has white daisy's on it and I have black high wasted boot cut jeans with a pair of cute white tennis shoes to complete the outfit. Even though I'm only nine I have impeccable taste in clothes, my unofficial  motto is "You are never too young to have good taste." My mom looks absolutely beautiful in her light yellow sundress with dark blue sneakers and a dark blue bag. To be honest with you we are a sneaker family if possible we will always choose sneakers. My mom only has two pairs of high heels and she wears them about five times a year. Same thing with my dad only he has dress shoes not high heels.

As we walk to the park I watch the leaves fall with awe on my face. I shall always love nature I silently vow to myself. Little did I know that my mother was watching me the whole time with adoration gracing her facial features. She never knew that she was being watched as well just not by family or someone we knew at all. At the park while mom was setting up the picnic blanket I went to go make new friends and to swing on the swing set. I met a young boy who told me to call him Chris, instantly we were best friends and we spent a whole hour just talking and swinging. My mother patiently waited for me to be done with my new best friend but eventually called me to eat and I promised him that I would be back next Sunday no doubt about it and he agreed to this so we parted ways. After the promise of meeting Chris I ran to my mom as fast as my little legs could take me (which wasn't that fast to be honest with you) and sat down to eat the delicious things on the blanket. We had turkey and provolone sandwiches with Mac and cheese and for dessert we had chocolate covered pretzels.

With full stomachs and hearts we slowly walked home to prepare for the perfect day finale. Dinner at Cheddar Chucks with the whole family. Mom made me take a bath under the contract that as my hair dried I got to watch more Octonauts. After a few hours had passed by we were getting ready to go my outfit was not that different from earlier I had a nice pair of black cargo pants with a light blue t-shirt that said "Dreams Are Made of Pixie Dust" on the back and as a precaution I took a solid dark blue hoodie with cat ears on the hood and to pull it all together I wore my favorite black and white tennis shoes I was looking really cute tonight! Obviously my mom looked lovely because we were wearing matching outfits! Except she took a black hoodie that said "Worlds Best Mom" on it and sadly it didn't have cat ears on it.

Now that we are on the road we started talking about what my goals of the year would be. Per family tradition everyone has to choose three goals to accomplish before our next birthday and mine this year are to, make more friends, keep my straight A's in school, to not get ANY detentions whatsoever this year. And as I said my last one my mom asked "Hold up rewind...You got detention?" My whole life flashed before my eyes when I saw her face, she was looking into my soul and not in a good way. I stuttered as I said "W-well N-not ex-xactly?" She opened her mouth to start rebuking me but nothing was coming out. It was as if she had been put on mute.

"Mom what's happening I can't hear you" I asked while shaking my head she looked at me as she tried to explain something to me but I kept shaking my head indicating that I still couldn't understand her. She looked at me her expression confused but something in the rear view mirror caught her eye and she screamed. I looked behind myself to try and catch a glimpse of what she saw but there was no one behind us. As I turned back our whole surroundings changed we were no longer in the car instead we were on the highway itself. Fog surrounded us swirling and almost dancing around and again she screamed but it wasn't at something. It was almost as if she was screaming at herself. I looked around to try and find something, a sign of where we were but there was nothing.

When I went to face her again she was gone then I blinked and she was only a foot in front of me. Her clothes tattered, blood in her hair, trailing down from her hairline onto her face. Her eyes were bloodshot her pupils dilated extensively like a predator getting ready to pounce. Dirt was all over her body but what was the most shocking was that her left arm was cut off, no it wasn't cut off it was torn off. As she looked around her eyes landed on me and she said the four most bone-chilling words I had ever heard.

"You...You did this"
