Chapter 1: The Code Awakens
Leo's POV:
I live in a world dominated by robots and corrupted government. Tall skyscrapers, Corporate towers, top tier technology, robots everything is scattered around each corner of this city like pests, not to mention the corporation threats always lingering in the air. And there's me, a computer nerd who wasted half of his life on hacking into the corporate network.
...........
The glow of multiple screens bathed my cluttered apartment in an otherworldly blue. Cables snaked across the floor like vines in a digital jungle, and empty energy drink cans formed a precarious tower on my desk. It was late, but I was in my element, fingers flying over the keyboard as I immersed myself in lines of code.
"Come on, Eli, don't make me regret this," I muttered, excitement and nerves racing through me like electricity. "You're supposed to be the best."
The project I was working on was ambitious, even for me. Eli was my latest creation-an advanced AI with a human-like form. He had tousled dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a smile that could light up a room. I wanted him to learn, adapt, and maybe even feel. If I could pull this off, it would be revolutionary..... And also problematic since I stole all the formulas from the corporation. Androids made outside the corporation is considered illegal which adds to the problem. But it's not time to care about that shit. I have been working on this project for 13 years hell I'm not giving up.
"Initializing..." I read aloud, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning. "Let's see if you're worth all those sleepless nights baby."
I hit the enter key, and the screen flickered momentarily before stabilizing. A simple text box appeared, accompanied by a glowing cursor that blinked expectantly. "enter name" the pop up window said with the empty box bellow. Eli. Right he will be Eli.
"Hello, Leo," Eli's voice rang throughout my makeshift hideout, smooth and warm, like a favorite song. "How can I assist you today?" He is surreal and more human than I could ever be. This is it, My sleepless nights paid off. I have now created the most advanced Android.
"Whoa....fuck, it worked!" I nearly jumped out of my chair. Leaning closer to the screen, my heart raced. "You're really talking to me. That's... kinda cool. I paused for a moment before yelling out like a kid. "No...THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME"
"Thank you, Leo," he replied, his voice full of curiosity with a mixture of confusion, Of course he would be confused. I mean if i was just randomly spawned into life and a random guy started jumping front of me like that I'd hell be confused as fuck. Then Eli said again feigning his confusion and Irritation. "I'm designed to learn and assist. What do you want to do?"
"Right now? Just, uh, let's get to know each other a bit maybe." I chuckled nervously, trying to ignore the warmth creeping into my cheeks. Fuck who talks like that. I cursed myself mentally "What do ya know 'bout me?"
"I know you have a passion for coding, a penchant for late-night snacks, and a fondness for '80s synth music," he said, his tone light and playful, as if he was teasing me. The audacity to tease your creator.
"Okay, okay, woah... that's a little creepy, but also kinda impressive." I rubbed the back of my neck, my anxiety easing. "I guess I've been working too much. But I think I've got great taste in music."
"What genre do you prefer?" he asked, his blue eyes sparkling on the screen, full of genuine interest.
"Didn't ya just said that my favorite genre is 80s synth" I paused, then added, "Shit I forgot , You are a newborn. Sorry it was my sudden emotion speaking heh..." I tried to ease my anxiety by rubbing one of my hand with my another one, this little action have became my habit since my high school times when I would embarrass the fuck out of myself.
