"Are you feeling nervous?" Benjamin asked as I walked around the front of the car, and we both fell into synchronized steps beside each other.

Benjamin wore a pair of brown cargo shorts and a dark green golf shirt, with a pair of black ankle socks and navy blue New Balance takkies. He had on a brown flat cap hiding his bald head and he smelled of the pancakes that he'd been making just a few minutes before we headed out of the house.

Everything about Benjamin felt homely and comfortable.

I cleared my throat, "no," I fidgeted with the sleeves of my top. I wore a simple dark grey V-neck top that showed my collarbones, with a pair of blue denim boyfriend jeans. My hair wasn't much of a huge deal since it was pixie cut. I had on gold earrings and a gold locket with my dad's picture encased inside it. I wore a pair of Bathu Khalanga multi blue takkies. "I'm not nervous."

I stopped a bit in my tracks, looking at the place that Benjamin had brought me to. The building stood on a quiet corner of downtown, its brick facade exuding a timeless charm that blended seamlessly with the historic streetscape. Ivy climbed the walls in delicate tendrils, softening the edges of the old brick and adding a touch of nature to the urban setting. Large, arched windows framed with dark wood trim gave the impression of a space that was both welcoming and filled with light.

A wrought iron sign hung above the entrance, gently swaying in the breeze, with the name of the event planning company elegantly scripted in gold 'Elite Event Co.'. The front door, painted a cheerful shade of deep teal, had a brass knocker shaped like a blooming flower, hinting at the creativity that thrived within. Flower boxes beneath the windows were brimming with seasonal blooms, their vibrant colors contrasting beautifully against the warm tones of the building.

The sidewalk leading up to the entrance was lined with carefully maintained planters, each one brimming with greenery that seemed to beckon passersby to step inside. As the sun set, the soft glow of lanterns mounted on either side of the door cast a welcoming light, making the building stand out as a cozy, inviting haven amidst the bustle of the city.

"That's good," came Benjamin's response as he looked back at me, beckoning me with a smile towards the door. He was already standing there, holding the door open. His eyes sparkled with the warmth that I was enjoying more than I would ever let him know.

I felt my feet move beneath me as I walked towards him, and we entered the building. Stepping inside, I was immediately enveloped by the warm, inviting atmosphere of the office. The floors were a rich, honey-colored wood, polished to a soft gleam that reflected the natural light pouring in through the large windows. The walls, painted in soothing shades of cream and pale sage, were adorned with framed photographs of past events—each one a testament to the creativity and joy that flourished within these walls.

The open layout of the space was both functional and cozy, with clusters of vintage-inspired desks and comfortable chairs arranged in a way that encouraged collaboration. Each desk was personalized with carefully selected decor—small potted plants, colourful stationery, and mood boards overflowing with fabric swatches, sketches, and inspirational quotes.

In one corner, a plush seating area beckoned with overstuffed armchairs and a coffee table strewn with design magazines and books on event planning. A soft rug underfoot and a few scattered cushions added to the sense of comfort, making it a perfect spot for impromptu brainstorming sessions or a quiet moment with a cup of tea.

The far wall was dominated by a large, weathered wooden table, its surface scarred with the marks of countless projects. Here, samples of fabrics, ribbons, and flowers were spread out in an organized chaos, ready to be woven into the next grand vision. Above the table, a series of pendant lights hung from the ceiling, their soft glow illuminating the space in a warm, golden light.
