"I don't think I've ever been this excited in my life, ever." Mia near squealed as she held Harry's hand.

He lovingly smiled at her, letting go of her fingers in favor of wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they walked side to side. Mia hummed as she cuddled into him a bit, the cold air biting and chilly as it hit her cheeks this wednesday evening.

It was December and it was cold. Very cold. But Mia and Harry didn't mind that it was cold outside, since they were cosied up in their apartment every night, sharing a blanket on the couch with Maple wedged somewhere between their warm bodies.

It had been weeks of snuggling, drinking tea while watching movies and Mia dozing off as she laid on top of Harry. They had turned into his favorite moments. Feeling Mia relax after the day she had, hearing how her breathing evened out and her lashes fluttered into his neck.

He'd stroke her back and lower the volume of the television until Mia was asleep and then he turned off the movie and watched some football game that was on. He only watched with one eye, so relaxed with his love sleeping in his arms that it usually didn't take long for him to fall asleep too. Mia was the perfect weighted blanket, warming him altogether.

His heart was warmest of all. Harry couldn't believe this was his life these days. It was his favorite thing ever to do just do nothing with Mia. They enjoyed their time together so much that not many words needed to be spoken for them to be the most comfortable. He remembered sometimes how nervous Mia used to be around him - but they had turned into each other's comfort people so much.

And their little family was complete with Maple around. He was the perfect cat for them, his bursts of energy quite sparse and usually he was just cuddly and lazy.

Mia and Maple didn't have to do much for Harry's heart to soar, so he did everything in his power to give some of that love back to Mia. He knew the holidays were a difficult time for her. Mia had broken all contact with her family, who hadn't tried to contact her anymore in the past months. After running into them in the coffee house a while back, Mia and Harry hadn't spoken about them anymore.

Mia grew closer and closer to Harry's family. She had at least weekly calls with his parents and often spoke to his brother too. They were making plans to visit again during the holidays, much like they had done last year. They had only been together for a short time back then and Harry remembered how exciting it all was to introduce Mia. He wasn't nervous even one bit. He always knew it was her.

Besides Mia not being in touch with her family anymore, she had also opened up about how she never really used to celebrate Christmas. She used to spend it in a foreign, warm country with her parents and brother but hadn't often experienced a snowy, cold Christmas with a tree and presents. And now that they had their own place, Harry was adamant on giving Mia the best Christmas ever.

They always said they'd go out to buy a tree together during the month of December, but had never specified when. The past few days had been spent with finalizing assignments and spending more time in the library than in their apartment, and Harry wanted to make Mia smile. He knew she was tired, with exams coming up so soon, and that she was anxious. It was her first semester in anthropology and even though she had a more lenient schedule due to her dyslexia and she was way more on top of things - and she liked what she studied - it was still a lot for her.

So on this random Wednesday evening, Harry decided to take her for a walk a few blocks away to pick out a christmas tree. All fatigue left Mia's face when he told her, and she squealed in excitement while jumping in his arms and kissing all over his face. Harry's cheeks hurt from smiling when he witnessed her so happy.
