The pulsating beats of the club enveloped Lola and Ellie as they entered the vibrant night scene in Valencia. The air was thick with laughter, music, and the faint scent of fruity cocktails, filling them with a sense of abandon. It had been a whirlwind trip, and tonight they were determined to let loose, reveling in the electric atmosphere that the Mediterranean city was known for.

Jake, ever the protective husband, stood close to Lola, his eyes scanning the crowd as they settled into a cozy booth. Ellie took her place opposite them, her camera already in hand, ready to capture memories that would last longer than the fleeting night.

"First round on me!" Lola declared, her excitement bubbling over as she raised her drink.

"Let's make it a night to remember," Ellie chimed in, her heart racing not just from the anticipation of the night but also from the enjoyable company of her best friend and her husband. Across the table, Jake smirked, clearly amused by the girls' enthusiasm.

The drinks flowed, and soon their inhibitions melted away like ice in their cocktails. Hours slipped by filled with boisterous laughter, impromptu dance-offs, and the kind of fun that could only be found amid loud music and swirling lights. James, was  keeping a watchful eye on the girls while attempting to join in on the dancing.

As the night wore on, it became increasingly evident that the drinks had been a little too generous. Ellie, feeling lightheaded and daring, leaned towards James, a playful glint in her eyes. "You're my new favorite stranger," she giggled, each word slightly slurred, her cheeks flushed from more than just the warmth of the club.

As the hour grew late, Jake decided it was time to make their way back to the hotel. The journey there was filled with laughter and small antics, but as they arrived, Ellie's mood shifted like a light flicked off.

Standing in the middle of their hotel room, Ellie proclaimed, "I'm not married! Stranger sleeps on the floor!"

James, taken aback but amused, chuckled as he saw her playful defiance. "What will you do now, snowflake?" he teased, and as he approached her, he lifted her off her feet, her laughter echoing in the room.

Ellie blushed under the intensity of his gaze, and without thinking, she blurted out, "Wow, this handsome guy is picking me up! I like you, stranger; you can sleep with me!"

James laughed softly, almost endearingly, as he dropped her onto the bed. "I'll go shower, sweetheart. Wait here." He left her giggling on the bed as he stepped into the bathroom.

Yet, as the bathroom door closed, Ellie's laughter faded, replaced by a sudden surge of displeasure. She pouted, turning her face away from the door like a child who had just lost their favorite toy. "James! Come back! I want you!" she shouted, her outcry echoing within the confined space.

James heard her distant cries and chuckled to himself, knowing full well that Ellie was just tipsy and confused, but it brought a sly grin to his lips. He finished his shower quickly and stepped back into the room, ready to don his bedtime attire.

James turned his gaze toward the bed, intent on issuing a gentle reprimand, only to find Ellie curled up beneath the covers, her soft breaths melodic and peaceful. A wave of affection washed over him as he sat at the foot of the bed, watching her sleep.

Her glossy hair sprawled messily across the pillows, and the slight rise and fall of her chest made his heart race. He knew he had to keep his emotions in check—she was Lola's friend, after all. But the confession slipped from his lips before he could reel it back in. "I love you, Ellie, since the day I met you," he whispered, almost reverently, "I'll always keep you by my side and make you happy always."

The sincerity in his voice seemed to reverberate in the stillness of the room. He shook his head, chastising himself for letting his heart wander into dangerous territories. With a sigh, he got up to prepare food as promised—impossible as it seemed with only a microwave and mere snacks in the small room.

However, as he worked, the sound of Ellie stirring brought a smile to his face. By the time he returned with a plate of hastily prepared snacks, Ellie was awake, her eyes blinking slowly as if she had just returned from a distant dream.

"Stranger, you made me food?" she asked, her voice still thick with sleep and surprise.

"What do you mean, 'made you food'? It's just some chips and a soda," he replied, rolling his eyes, but couldn't help but be amused at her reaction.

Ellie's eyes glistened as she sat up. "I'm really hungry, stranger! You're the best!" she beamed before stuffing a chip into her mouth.

"Fine, sit there like a queen," he grinned teasingly. But as she munched on the chips with a look of sheer delight, he realized how much he enjoyed this connection, how natural it felt, even amidst the silliness of the moment.

"Stranger?" she asked suddenly, her eyes narrowing slightly as she chewed thoughtfully, "Do you like me?"

The question caught him off guard, and he hesitated, torn between playful banter and his genuine feelings. "Sure, snowflake, you're a lot of fun," he finally replied, keeping his tone light.

Ellie's expression faltered slightly at the nonchalance, but then she shrugged it off with a smile. "Well then, I like you too!" She stretched out on the bed, her carefree demeanor pulling him in.

As they settled into a comfortable rhythm, James's heart swelled. Ellie may not have realized it yet, but beneath all their playful banter and drinks, a connection was forming—one that neither laughter nor time could erase.

As sleepiness began to creep in again, James watched as she snuggled deeper into the covers. While the world outside continued to pulse with nightlife, he found solace in the quiet of the room, reflecting on the chaotic yet beautiful night. Tomorrow promised new memories; tonight, however, a subtle magic lingered in the air, stirring feelings too potent to ignore.
