"Stop right there!" A man's voice yells behind me.

I stop, listening to what he says.

"Hands up and turn around very slowly." The man tells me, I do so.

He has a police uniform on and a gun pointed in my direction, he walks towards me grabbing handcuffs from his belt on his hip.

The cold metal around my wrists and the click behind me tells me he has cuffed me.

"Officer, what have I done?" I asked as he walked me towards his car.

"You are suspected of murder, and as of now are guilty. Where's your ID?" He asked.

"In my coat pocket." I said.

He picked it out of my pocket and read it aloud.

"Cassian Tio, 18 years old."

I nodded and sighed.

He pushed me in the backseat of the car slamming the door in my face driving away., First, my mum and I got into a huge fight. Third, my dog died- rest in peace Peaches-. And now this! Murder? I would never kill anybody, wait I should probably tell him that. Ri

"Wait! Officer, I would literally never kill anybody! And why am I a suspect? Also, who got murdered?" I asked.

The officer was obviously annoyed so he pulled over and turned towards me.

"Ok, so you were found walking away from the victims apartment in a dark alley and wearing all black," he said pointing to my black pants, small black crop top, and black boots.

"You see my point. You don't have a weapon on you or any blood, but the weapon was retrieved from the crime scene, you could have washed the blood off, and I don't know if you're pretending to not know who I'm talking about, but her name was Kit Amsten. Ring a bell?" He asks.

I think for a moment, to be honest I actually knew her.

We were friends in high school. I thought she was still on Broadway, guess not.

I can't tell him I knew her, would bring me up on the suspect list.

"Nope, never heard of her."

He nodded looking at me. "She turned 19 yesterday, which means you two would have graduated the same year, would it not?"

I scoffed. "So what if we did? Why would I want to kill her?"

He frowned. "That's what I'm trying to figure out."

...

Two hours later

I pulled my knees up against my chest, I have been in this questioning room for five hours hours. They said they would be right back, that was at least four hours ago.

"Let me out!" I yelled as loud as I could.

They were probably standing on the other side of the glass watching me go crazy by the second.

I hate them, those evil liars.

I know I'm probably overreacting about them being evil, just doing their job.

A tall man with short blonde hair, scrawny body, wearing a black suit, and carrying a black slick briefcase, walked through the cold, shiny metal doors.

"Hi, I'm Lawrence MacRine. Your Lawyer, let's go through the easy part." He said as he got papers out of his briefcase.

"So, your name is Cassian Tio, you are 18 years old, born 1990, February 19. Your mother is Cassandra, your father Carlos died two years ago, you have five siblings-" I stopped him mid sentence.

"Look Lawrence, I don't need to hear how my life went, I lived it, okay?" I said rudely.

He looked offended. "Okay Cassian, I just want to get to the part where you had been in juvie for three years in a row."

I looked up at him. "Look I-."

He nodded. "They looked at your profile, looking for your family to see who they should call, and found it." He deeply exhaled, continuing to talk.

"Well your case is almost helpless, but if you tell me everything you did I might be able to help you." Lawrence said, looking at me with a hopeful face.

I sigh. "Alright, so I had been kicked out of my apartment so I was at her house , and she argued with me,about my friend James, he wrecked my car. Then I went to work and my car is still at the mechanics so I had to leave early to get there on time, then I was walking back to my mums and the officer arrested me, now here I am talking to you"

Lawrence just nodded. "Uh, sounds like a real rough day."

I nodded. "It was, I love my mum, I actually like my job, and I hate getting arrested."

He laughed at this.

"What? It's not funny, getting arrested sucks!" I exclaimed.

He shook his head, his deep laughter dying down.

"Oh, I believe you." He smiled.

We talked for a while and laughed a bit surprisingly, he was nice I liked Lawerance.

I shook my head. "Do I have a chance?"

He looked at me. "Not a very big chance."

He stood up and headed towards the door.

"Lawrence?" I asked.

"Yes Cassian?" He said resting his big, heavy hand on the door handle.

I looked at him for a moment before saying anything.

"Do you think I'm guilty?"

He watched me, looking at the tears rolling down my face.

"No, no I don't."
