GRACIE POV

I walked through the campus, looking around. UConn. My dream school. I'm finally here. After many years of working to get here, I can't help but to feel overwhelmed. Thing is, I've dragged my friend along with me. Olivia, she wasn't the biggest UConn fan, but she didn't want to go to college without me. So, she followed.

"Gracie," She whined behind me, "Do we have to tour the school, again? We've gone through here like...I don't know...like five times." She was right. I was so excited to be here that I've not done anything but walked around. Saying that, we've been walking around with suitcases full of stuff.

I turn to face her, "Oh, um, we should probably go find our dorms!" She rolled her eyes as I turned to walk away. A little pep in my step, she laughed.

"I don't understand your excitement. But whatever has you like this, please share," Olivia jogs to walk beside me, I turn to face her.

"The school, being here, like..." I couldn't put my thoughts into words, "It's like a dream coming true." I smile. "I've always wanted to come here, the sports programs are great, which means..."

"The journalism program has to be good," Olivia finished, I nod.

"Exactly. You know how fun it would be to interview all the players, like, especially the girls' basketball team. The media loves them." I ramble, losing the focus of the girl beside me. "I can't wait to start, like, I'm actually so excited."

Olivia groans, "Well, with all the energy and excitement, help me carry one of these suitcases."

"Oh, yeah...sorry."

We walked the rest of the way to the dorms, asking someone for help because we couldn't find our way.

"Just go down that way, it should take you straight to the freshman dorms," The taller girl says, pointing down the hallway. We thank her, heading our way down the hall, looking for our rooms.

"Wait," I look at the papers, "We don't share a dorm?" Olivia looks between the papers, moving them closer to her face.

"Oh my god, I don't even wanna be here without you," She whines. I shrug.

"We'll be alright...this is new, everything is new, means time to make new friends," I try to smile, knowing I couldn't think about sharing a dorm with someone other than Olivia. She shakes her head.

"You're lying, you can't really think this is gonna be okay?" Her face held a look of disbelief.

"I-I don't know, we can always try to get in the same dorm later?" She nods, liking that better than my pervious statement.

"Okay, well..." She starts moving towards her room, "See you in like 20 maybe?"

I nod, "Yeah, that works." I wave, turning around to move to my room. The door was already open, a girl unpacking her stuff. I walk in, setting my stuff on the bed. The girl turns around, a smile on her face.

"You must be my, uh, roommate?" Her thick accent immediately drawing interest.

"Uh, yeah, yeah," I walk closer to her, holding my hand out, "I'm Gracie Thatcher."

She smiles, her nose scrunching as she does, "Nika Mühl." She takes my hand, shaking it lightly. I took that moment to actually look at her. Her dark hair that flowed down her shoulders like waves from the sea. Her eyes were dark and beautiful like an ocean of chocolate. Her smile was bright and big. I just stood there, taking it in, she was beautiful.
