LITTLE CRUSH

Did I do anything the next couple days with my little crush on my temporary roommate? No. I mean, why should I. I don't think anything would come out of it anyway. She was cool, and sweet, and... honestly...just perfect.

She had showed me some of her games from when she was in Croatia, and I have to say, she was good. Amazing, even. She knew what she was doing when she was on the court. I have to say, it was another attractive trait of hers.

"Okay, so, uh, this right here was one of my favorite plays," She points at the screen situated in front of us. "People got mad all the time because I was trying to do more look away passes rather than playing. I was like, 'oh come on, it's fun.' The coaches did not like my mouth, at all. I had to run, like, so much." As she rambled, I watched her eyes light up, her smile bright on her face, and I just sat in the great vibes she gave off.

"Do you back talk Geno?" I get a laugh in return.

"Duh," She looks up from the game, her eyes darting across my face. I look down, not wanting to hold eye contact for long. She clears her throat, "I guess I should be heading down to the gym."

"How much do you practice?"

She shrugs, "It's weightlifting right now, but, um, a lot. Gotta keeps these muscles big," She flexes, showing off her, supposed to be muscles.

I roll my eyes, "Sure, so big."

She waves her hand at me, "What?!? Biggest muscles I've seen."

I laugh, "Whatever, go lift your weights and stuff."

She salutes, "Yes ma'am." And off she went, closing the door behind her. I fell into my bed, grabbing my phone, glancing at the many texts and missed calls from Olivia. She was hell bent on telling me that Nika and I were going to end up together. Heads up Olivia, no we're not.

As much as I would love that, I was like 99 percent sure she was straight. Olivia would be like, "That's just your insecurities talking." Girl, no. The girl has been talking to this dude she had a class with.

"Come on, maybe she's just being nice?" Olivia shrugged.

"You're being more delusional than me, and that's insane," I stopped in my tracks, taking the campus in again. The last couple days I hadn't been living the UConn life I had expected. My days were consumed with talking to Nika, watching film with Nika, or, when she was gone, thinking about Nika.

"That's not even possible. You met her three days ago and you're already so infatuated with her, you barely leave your room. The only time was to go get something to eat...with Nika," She finished, I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, so."

She sighed, "You're letting yourself get so consumed in this little crush you have."

"Am not."

"You are too."

"Nah uh."

A loud groan came from her, making me jump slightly, "God, Gracie, I can't. You wanted to come to UConn for UConn. Now it's for this girl you're not gonna talk to next week."

She was right, once Nika left the dorm, I probably wasn't going to talk to her. I knew it was coming; I needed to stop whatever this thing was before I was heartbroken by someone who didn't even know they were doing anything.

"You're right," Surprise settled on her face, "I'm here for UConn, not Nika."

She nodded, "Thank God, I thought I was gonna lose you."

"Can I stay at your dorm for a couple days," Taken back from my sudden question, she hesitantly agreed. "Thank you, I just need to be away from her as soon as possible."

---------------------------------------------------------

Olivia and I got back to my dorm, the room almost bare except my stuff. Nika sat on the bed, fiddling with her fingernails.

"Oh, uh, hey," Nika made her way towards me, "The girls made room for me quicker than expected. So, um, I'm gonna stay with them now."

Something in me broke, what could I be sad about though? "Oh, that's...that's kinda sad. I liked having you as a roommate."

A smile spread across her face, "If you ever see me around...don't be afraid to stop me and talk."

Grabbing her duffle bag, flinging across her shoulder, she made her way to the door. Stopping, turning to look at me again, she sent a small wave. I sent one back.

Olivia broke the silence that fell over the room once Nika left, "Sooo...you're not staying in my dorm for a couple days?"

I shake my head, "I guess not."

a/n: this is extremely short...like too short for my liking. But, this is where it sounded best to stop it. Maybe I'll put in another chapter tonight, cause this, this is not it.
