Lisa's heart raced as she stood in the shadowy corner of the hotel parking lot, her breath coming in quick, nervous bursts. She wasn't supposed to be here. Her mother thought she was upstairs, getting ready for bed after another exhausting charity event. But instead, she had slipped away the moment she got the chance, dressed in something simple but chic, her long hair pulled back, her heart pounding in her chest.

She scanned the lot, glancing at her watch for the fifth time, biting her lip. Michael had said to meet him here, that he'd handle everything. But her mind buzzed with the risk of it all—what if the guards noticed? What if her mother found out? The thrill of it made her head spin, but there was something exhilarating about doing this—breaking away, sneaking out to meet him. The mere thought of seeing him had her pulse racing, though she tried to calm the storm of emotions building inside her.

Suddenly, the sound of tires on gravel pulled her from her thoughts. Her eyes snapped to the sleek, black car pulling up to the curb. The window rolled down, revealing Michael's face, his expression tense yet lit with an excited urgency. He was wearing a casual leather jacket, his dark hair slightly tousled as if he'd hurried just as much as she had to make this happen.

"Get in," he said in a low voice, his eyes locking onto hers. The intensity in his gaze sent a shiver down her spine.

Without thinking, without hesitation, she ran to the car. She threw open the door and slipped into the passenger seat, glancing around nervously as Michael hit the gas. The tires spun on the pavement, and just like that, they were off—escaping, breaking free.

Lisa's heart pounded as she looked over her shoulder, scanning for any sign of security, but there was none. Her breath hitched as she turned back toward Michael, who was focused on the road, a smirk playing on his lips. "Did we really just do that?" she asked, a nervous laugh escaping her lips.

"We did," Michael replied, his voice calm, but she could see the adrenaline in his eyes. "You weren't followed, right?"

"No. I don't think so," she answered, sinking into her seat, trying to make sense of what they were doing. "I mean, I left them behind. They think I'm upstairs. I don't know how long that'll last though."

Michael glanced at her, his smirk turning into a soft smile, a mix of relief and mischief in his eyes. "Good. Then we've got time."

Lisa laughed again, this time more out of excitement than nerves. She couldn't believe they were actually doing this—escaping, running away, even if just for a few hours. For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt free, unbound from her mother's strict control.

"Where are we going?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, the tension in her chest now replaced with anticipation.

Michael glanced at her, his hand resting casually on the steering wheel. "You'll see," he said, his voice teasing but confident. "Trust me."

They drove lazily through the city, the lights blurring into a soft haze outside the windows. The streets were quiet, the city slowly falling asleep, leaving the two of them alone in the bubble of their shared secret. Michael took winding roads, avoiding the main ones, as if they were the only two people in the world, disconnected from everything.

For a while, neither of them spoke. It wasn't awkward, but the silence was filled with an electric tension, thick and undeniable. Lisa could feel her pulse thrumming beneath her skin, her senses on high alert. She snuck glances at him, noting how relaxed he seemed behind the wheel, though there was something charged in his posture, a tension in the way his fingers gripped the wheel.

The quiet hum of the car and the low city sounds outside made the moment feel like they were in their own little universe, separate from the demands and expectations of their lives. The pull between them was strong, almost magnetic, but neither of them dared to acknowledge it yet.
