You awake with a wrenched out gasp, chest heaving almost dangerously fast, and eyes firmly shut. Your recollections of the past take on a hazy film distantly reaching out to fill in the confused gaps of your waking conscience. A elegant mirror that contrary to it's simple purpose was anything but.
A surface as reactive as running water, ripples cascading across the reflection and obscuring what lies beneath. With one brush against it you found yourself dragged, but surely this was the stuff of hyperactive dreams. You're more than ready to chalk the strange happenstance up to a burst of wild imagination. Until the answer hits you, or well you hit the answer.
Elbows shifting it's an awkward shuffle, positioning yourself so to properly account your weight. Really if you weren't in such a blind rush (eyes still closed ironically enough) you would've noticed the off texture of what you were laying on. Stiff as a board and highly uncomfortable this was the furthest thing from your bed.
You shoot upwards and rather than simply being able to sit up like you were expecting your forehead instead harshly collides with something solid. Eyes watering you bit back the curse building on your tongue as you fall back flat. A stinging pain surges at your temple and you release a few shallow breath before finally opening your eyes.
You are somewhere dark, and raising one stiff leg reveals the space you occupy is rather small. Frowning you ignore the grasp of fear clinging in your stomach. There was no time to panic, you were in unfamiliar territory from what little information could be gleaned from your less then pleasant circumstances. You've dealt with planets befallen of calamities all by yourself before so this should surely be a piece of cake.
Tentatively your hand wanders up rubbing softly at the throbbing stinging your temple and you withhold a wince. Sighing you take a moment to breath before finally running your fingertips over the top of your confinement, only to realize that it was wood. Contemplating at the new details you find yourself stumped...where you locked in some sort of closet?
Well actually that wouldn't work, there would've been something else then just you if that were the truth...and even at the slim chance of it being unused it was much to compact to classify as a place to store stuff. Huffing you blink slowly...just what could've happened during that mirror encounter to completely transfer you somewhere unknown. You can only foolishly hope that someone has noticed your absence on the Express already and that they're working steadily to retrieve you.
Figuratively shaking away the thoughts you look around for nothing in particular now was not the time to fall into despair, you're first goal should be just getting out of whatever here was. Swallowing thickly you pressed your palms against the top just to see how much resistance there was.
A groaning creak emitted and you felt a curl of satisfaction bud, breathing slowly you brace your arms against the sides, and in one quick succession you swing your foot up. The resounding crack feels amplified in your ears—positively thunderous. The lid fractures, and seeping through the split fissures are thin beams of light.
Inhaling sharply you lay your head back, leg muscles tensed in preparation for what should be the last kick. When you fling out your foot there is a moment where the structure doesn't move, but before you can doubt in the results of your motion the wood heaves.
Immediately you're blinking your eyes at the intruding light, brows scrunched at the intensity of it all, before you push what's left out of the way, hearing the pieces clatter loudly to the ground. When you sit up, eyes hastily drinking in the surrounding there is only one intelligent thought you can feel growing. What?
