The story happens around end 80s in Miami.
Nessas mother dates her Highschool sweetheart again after Nessa father passed away when she was 18 years old. The couple get to the conclusion that they want to spend their lives together and suddenly they get married. Nessa and her Step brother doesn't know nothing about it, until they meet all together and the parents gives them the big news. Nessa doesn't like it, because she never had a good relationship with her mother after her father died. And Nicholas also can't accept the fact that his father is over his mother. Nessa and Nicholas don't like each other at all when they first meet but that's going to change once they going to live in the same house.
