Mia Thompson was lost scrolling social media on the Sunday's evening. She sat on her small desk, the light from her laptop lighted her room with blue light.
Her finger moved on the keyboard as she scrolled the feed. It was a routine in she had fallen into - work, dinner and then hour of mindlessly browsing until sleep came. Not an exciting life, but Mia liked the simplicity. Her phone buzzed beside her,and she quickly reached for it. The screen displayed a notification from an unknown account. She opened her phone raising an eyebrow.
Unknown : Do you ever feel like someone's watching you?
Mia chuckled softly, while shaking her head.
"Must be some other troll..."
She received weird messages like this few times before, though they were all harmless. She just blocked the account and continued her online browsing. As the time passed, the message faded from her mind quickly.
She then posted some pictures of her of carnival, where she went today with her 'friends' - Emily, Mark, Sarah. It was fun and they all enjoyed.
She was now tired but the dopamine push won't let her get away from the screen.
That evening,it was unnaturally silent, and she carried an unusual weight on her shoulders. Mia glanced at the closed curtains at the window, biting her lips. It was surely silly, but the message lingered in her mind, forcing her to look at the window so often.
She leaned back on her chair, trying to forget that 'weird' message.
Mia - Get a grip,Mia. Its just some creep online, messing with me.It was now starting to be irritating, she would not let some stranger ruin her peaceful evening.
But,just then, it happened again.
Her phone buzzed, and this time,it was more unsettling.Unknown - Nice sweater. The gray one's your favorite, right?
Mia felt a sudden chill, she looked down. She was wearing a worn-out gray sweater,a personal comfort she never thought twice about.
Was this a coincidence?
She moved to block it again but,she stopped. Who even cares about something like that? Her mind started making possibilities- maybe someone from work? A friend playing a prank?
No. It didnt feel like a prank, though.
Mia glanced around her small, messed room. She felt watched. Slowly she walked to the window. Pulling curtains side, she peeked outside.
Nothing. Just, the quiet dark street. The broke streetlight emitting a dim light on the pathways. No one was there.
She dropped the curtains back at their place. She convinced her its just a random person messing with her.
Suddenly, another buzz
Unknown - Didn't see anything, did you? Don't worry,I'm closer than you think.
Mia's blood turned blue. She dropped the phone on the desk, like it was cursed. Someone was really watching her - right now.
For the first time in her life, she was truly afraid of her own home.
