Hello loves, I'm SJ. This will be the 1st story that me and Rose have wrote together. So sorry in advance if some parts don't necessarily make sense. Here goes nothing. Hope you enjoy!!

Prologue

*Foxxe*

"Goodness gracious, Foxxe! Get your lazy butt out of bed this instant and go take care of the animals." Clare screamed at me through the door.

"Go away Clare. I'm not in the mood to listen to your voice this early." I screamed back from underneath the comfort of my blanket. I heard the thump of my door hitting the wall then felt cold air hit my wings. You heard me right, wings."Gah!! Clare be careful for my wings!" I sat up and gave her the best evil eye I could manage this early in the morning.

"Well, if you slept like a normal fairy I wouldn't have to be careful." I ran the fingers of the hand that I wasn't leaning on through my hair.

"Since when am I normal?" She just shook her head. I slowly stretched, opening my wings to their full span. I sighed in relief then laughed when I realized my right wing had pinned Clare to the wall, her wings splayed out behind her in a painfully unnatural way.

"Sorry Clare." I returned my wings to their original position folded against my back.

"I always forget how big you and Nyx's wings are." Nyx, my twin sister, and I have unusually large wings for fairies, but nobody has yet to figure out why.

"Everybody does until they get hit with them. Now if you want me to actually do anything today I suggest you get out and let me change." She glared playfully at me before leaving.

"You get to wake your sister up today, by the way." She called.

"Ugh...fine. But if I get blasted with water again I'm gonna steal your shadow." I got no response and assumed she had left.

Every fairy has a different talent. The talents range from controlling the elements to seeing the future to healing to fighting. But every generation, or so, a select few fairies have more than one talent, turns out that in our generation it was me and my sister.

Nyx can control every element and is a very skilled fighter, she knows every fighting styles in the world. While I can control darkness or shadows, whatever you want to call it, and am very good with animals. Like unnaturally so, some of the meanest animals like me but hate everyone else, even the other animal fairies. Which is why I take care of them.

I shed out of my pajamas and slipped on some dark black leggings with a loose fitting, rusty orange, short sleeve shirt over them. Then I pulled on some ankle boots that matched my shirt, I brushed my hair and decided to leave it down. I grabbed my satchel of feed and left my room.

Stepping out onto the porch I was met by the blinding light of the morning sun. Shielding my eyes, I jumped off the porch; unfurling my wings in the process and flew to the room right above mine. I landed lightly and closed my wings. I opened the door to see Nyx laying in her bed staring at the nonexistent ceiling.

"You take the ceiling off again?"

"No, a bird flew by and snatched it up." She answered sarcastically.

"Well what ruffled your feathers this morning?" I sat on the edge of her bed and watched her carefully.

"You and Clare arguing again. Why must you two do this every week?" She sat up and glared at me.

"Sorry Nene, you know how Clare can be." She hummed in response as she rubbed sleepily at her eyes.

"Tell ya what, why don't you go back to sleep. I'll cover for you with Jared, it's not like the fat ass can tell us apart anyway."

"Thank you Foxxe." She hugged me. "I owe you one."

"Yes you do." I laughed. "Well I gotta go take care of the animals before Clare freaks out on me again."

"Have fun sis...and please don't hurt to many people this time." She shooed me off her bed.

"Hey that was an accident."

"Yeah, because peoples shadows just accidentally disappears."She smirked. I threw my hands up in defense.

"It can happen."

"But it doesn't. Now leave unless you want to go to work water logged."

"Alright alright. I'm leaving." I stepped onto her porch."I'll come wake you before noon."

"Fine..." She huffed. I waved bye and once again jumped off the porch.

This was going to be an interesting day.
