This is a fanfiction based on the HARRY POTTER books written by J.K Rowling.
(English is not my first language, feel free to correct me!!!)
The first day at Hogwarts can be scary for those raised within a muggle family, a massive castle with moving stairs and flying ghosts.
Being sorted out in one of the four houses is a big event for everyone expect those who already know where they belong.
«How can someone like him be so arrogant!»
His name is on everyone's lips: Harry Potter, the boy that survived.
Many students fails to hide their amazed, almost weird looks toward Harry.
He's bold enough to decline Draco's handshake..
«Are you even listening to me?!»
«You're just saying the same thing over and over again.» She replied, showing her annoyance towards the complaining blondie.
Malfoy's grip on his fork tightens, his knuckles turning white. He grits his teeth and lets out a frustrated huff. «It's true! Harry Potter is everywhere, and everyone's just fawning all over him like he's some kind of hero. It's ridiculous!»
The dining hall is filled with students enjoying their evening meal, the aroma of freshly prepared food permeating the air temporarily distracted her from the boy's whines.
Plates of roasted meats, piles of mashed potatoes, and heaping servings of vegetables are laid out in front of them.
Aurora rolls her eyes, unimpressed with his rant. «You know, Draco, you're just jealous.»
Malfoy's face turns red with anger. «Jealous? Me? Ha!" He scoffs and crosses his arms defiantly. "I'm not jealous of Potter. I don't need his fame or his popularity. I'm better than him, and I don't need anyone to tell me that.»
Aurora smirks while lowering her gaze to her plate, enjoying the way she gets under Draco's skin. «Oh, really? Then why do you spend so much time talking about him?»
Malfoy glares at her, his pride wounded. "I just find him... irritating. That's all. I don't care about him."
She raises an eyebrow skeptically. «Right... So, you just rant about him nonstop because you find him irritating. Makes perfect sense...»
«On what side are you, Aurora?! You're making me loose my appetite!»
«You were so eager to meet him, and now you suddenly can't stand him because he refused to shake your hand after you made fun of his friend.»
The young boy remained quiet for a moment, before his tone became insulting.
«Im not even surprised he's friends with a mudblood and a blood traitor, that's the 'friends' he's worth of.»
She raised her gaze only when he decided to use those derogatory terms, her teasing smile vanished all of the sudden.
«What's the matter?» He asked, mock-confusion spread on his face.
«Never mind.»Their first potion lesson begun, The professor's gaze constantly fell on the gryffindor boy.
She struggled to focus on the lesson when Draco was whispering in her ear.
«Malfoy,»
Aurora's attention snaps back to the lesson as Professor Snape calls out Draco's name. «Yes, sir?»Draco replies, a hint of irritation in his voice.
Snape's dark eyes bore into Draco for a moment before speaking. «I suggest you focus on your potion rather than disturbing your classmate's work.»
Draco scowls but nods, turning back to his potion. Aurora lets out a low sigh of relief, grateful that Snape had intervened.
The rest of the lesson went smoothly, until she caught herself staring at Harry on too many occasions.
She tried to focus on her own potion and the lesson, but her gaze couldn't help but dart towards him every now and then. Aurora wasn't sure why she was so intrigued by Harry, but there was something about him that drew her attention. It was a strange feeling that she couldn't quite explain. The same day she went to the library on her own, determined to find a book to read in order to get Harry out of her mind.
She unconsciously went to the history section, and her eyes fell on a boy she immediately recognized.
«Are you looking for something in particular?» Aurora asked, forcing herself to sound confident and unbothered- pretending she didn't hope to see him alone.
«Oh, not really.. my friend asked me to look for a book." Harry replied, looking a bit flustered for some reason.
He hesitated for a moment, before continuing.
«You're Aurora Murrina, right?»
She looked at him surprised.
«How do you know?»
A moment of loud silence fell upon them- it made her think that he didn't hear praise.
«Well my friend.. he.. just told me—»
She looked at him perplexed.
«Harry how long are you going to take?!» A red head complained, appearing from behind a shelf- his face dropped when he saw Aurora.
«We should get going.» Harry said firmly, trying to push away the strong tension between them.
«Yes we should.» Ron spat, not hiding that annoyance towards her.
They both left, leaving her alone, standing there- pretending to be confused by his behavior, trying to hide the guilt she felt for what she put Ron through.
