The touch was warm, comforting, and as Hanbin led him back to the dance floor, Hao felt some of the tension in his body begin to ease. The music swelled around them, and for the first time that night, Hao allowed himself to truly lose himself in the moment.
As they danced, Hanbin's hands on his waist, guiding him gently, Hao felt a sense of safety he hadn't known in a long time. It wasn't just the physical closeness, but something deeper—a feeling that maybe, just maybe, he could trust Hanbin, that he could let his guard down and not be hurt.
But the fears, the memories of past betrayals, lingered at the edges of his mind, a constant reminder of the pain he had endured. Hao knew it wouldn't be easy to let go of those fears, to open himself up to the possibility of being hurt again. But as he looked into Hanbin's eyes, saw the sincerity and warmth there, he found himself wanting to try.
For the first time in a long time, Hao allowed himself to hope.
As Hao breathed in Hanbin's scent, he was overwhelmed by a rush of emotion. There was something in Hanbin's voice, in the way he looked at Hao, that made something inside Hao break. He had never had anyone stand up for him like this, never had anyone care enough to protect him without expecting something in return. The emotions that he had been trying so hard to suppress suddenly overwhelmed him, and he felt his eyes start to burn with unshed tears.
Tears welled up in his eyes, and before he could stop them, they began to fall. Hao blinked rapidly, trying to push the tears back, but one slipped free and rolled down his cheek. He quickly turned his head away, not wanting Hanbin to see, but it was too late. Hanbin noticed immediately, his heart twisting at the sight of Hao's tears. His expression softened even more as he reached out, gently cupping Hao's face in his hands.
"Hey, it's okay," Hanbin whispered, rubbing Hao's cheeks in soothing circles. "You're safe now. Everything is okay."
Hao looked up at Hanbin, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Thanks," he said again, this time with a depth of feeling that made Hanbin's heart ache. He reached out, wiping away Hao's tears with gentle fingers, his touch tender and reassuring.
Hanbin reached out and gently pulled Hao into a warm hug, his arms wrapping around him tightly as if trying to offer some silent comfort. He rested his chin on top of Hao's head, his breath steady and calm, while the soft scent of his shampoo filled the air between them. The warmth of Hanbin's embrace seeped through Hao, melting away the tension that had been knotting his shoulders for days. It was the kind of peace he hadn't felt in so long, a moment where the world seemed to fade away.
Hao leaned into the hug, his cheek pressed against Hanbin's chest, listening to the gentle rhythm of his heartbeat. His eyes fluttered closed for a second, soaking in the closeness, the warmth that felt like home. For the first time in what felt like forever, he didn't feel so alone.
As Hanbin shifted slightly to look down at him, their eyes met. There was something unspoken between them, a kind of quiet understanding that neither of them could quite put into words. Then, in an unintentional movement, Hanbin leaned forward just a little too much, and before either of them realised it, his lips brushed against Hao's forehead—soft and brief.
Hanbin froze, his eyes widening in shock as he immediately pulled back, his cheeks flushing in embarrassment. "I—I'm so sorry," he stammered, his voice stumbling over the words.
Hao blinked up at him, caught off guard, his heart racing from the unexpected touch. But instead of being embarrassed, a small, amused smile tugged at his lips. He shook his head gently, eyes softening. "Don't be," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper as the music played in the background. "It's okay... I kinda liked it."
