From Ballerina to Karateka:
Roxanne's karate style is heavily influenced by her background in classical ballet. She took classical ballet from ages three to twelve years, so she has a decade of ballet experience under her belt.
She knows how to stand precisely en pointe (on her tip-toes) and is extremely fluid in her movements, which translates into her karate style. When she fights, she moves fluidly and it always seems like a dance when she does it, unless she is purposely trying to be messy or scrappy, or unless she is not in a clear state of mind.

Karate Style Experience:
- Miyagi-Do (under Daniel LaRusso and Chozen Toguchi): Roxanne's first experience in Martial Arts came through Miyagi-Do, under Sensei Daniel LaRusso and Sensei Chozen Toguchi. Through them, she learned many traditional Okinawan karate techniques and legendary skills that originate from late karate sensei Nariyoshi Miyagi. Daniel's style is more defense and Chozen's style is more offensive, so she knows a bit of both.
Thanks to Miyagi-Do, Roxanne's reflexes and muscle memory have significantly improved. Miyagi-Do has only improved Roxanne's already fluid movements, but also taught her how to settle down when she is fighting. She has learned that she doesn't have to constantly be moving and has gotten extremely skilled at blocking as well as throwing punches without having to tire herself out while moving around.
- Eagle-Fang (under Johnny Lawrence): When Daniel and Johnny combined dojos, Eagle-Fang gave Roxanne the freedom to explore her more intense fighting style. Thanks to Johnny's teachings, she has learned to use her adrenaline to her advantage when she gets tired in a fight. She has also learned how to fight first in extreme circumstances. In the rare circumstances in which she cannot manage to fight fluidly, she relies on Eagle-Fang to give her a more aggressive and precise advantage.
- Cobra Kai (under Mike Barnes, Robby Keene, and Tory Nichols):
Roxanne has never joined Cobra Kai and will never willingly use Cobra Kai karate under any circumstance.
However, she did learn it under former Cobra Kai member, Sensei Mike Barnes, and from former Cobra Kai students, Robby Keene and Tory Nichols, in order to be prepared for circumstances in which Miyagi-Do and Eagle-Fang do not work.
These circumstances are typically very extreme, such as life or death, brawls, or to protect herself and her loved ones from extreme danger. Robby and Tory have taught her to channel her anger in intense situations and use it to her advantage.
When Roxanne gets angry in a fight, she sometimes gets tunnel vision and channels all her rage into her karate moves. This makes it very dangerous for her to use Cobra Kai karate. She has never seriously injured anyone, but she has gotten close to it a few times, so she tends to stray away from Cobra Kai as a whole.

Weapons and Stunt Skills
Roxanne's signature weapons are fighting fans. She is the only student amongst all the dojos who uses them. Her mother, Ashley James, who was a stunt double for several action movies, gifted them to her and taught her how to use them. Roxanne hardly ever uses the fans in real fights, but she uses them in performances and tournaments. She will only use the fans in real fights when she absolutely has to.
Ashley starred in action movies that required her to do several stunts. Many of these stunts included leaping from building-to-building on wires, climbing up walls, and performing intense choreographed fight sequences. All of these skills were passed onto Roxanne, who picked up on them quickly and incorporates these skills into her fights, particularly in tournaments such as the Sekai Tekai.
