I stood in the middle of the temple, trying to steady my breathing, Megatron's words echoing in my mind. His sudden appearance—and just as sudden disappearance—had rattled me. But there was something about him, something that had shifted since the war. The once-mighty warlord had spoken of peace and redemption. Could it be true?
I shook my head, forcing myself to focus. I didn't have time to dwell on Megatron's motivations. There was a reason I had been brought here, and it was tied to Solus Prime—and the mysterious Fourteenth Prime. I had to keep moving.
As I ventured deeper into the temple, I noticed more ancient symbols carved into the walls. They seemed to hum with energy, and the air grew heavier the farther I went. My mind was racing, trying to piece together what Megatron had said. The fate of Cybertron? The key revealing its purpose in time?
The temple seemed to stretch on forever, its vast corridors and chambers twisting like a labyrinth. I could feel something—some presence—guiding me, pulling me toward an answer. But with each step, doubt crept in. What if Megatron was wrong? What if this temple held no answers, only more questions?
Suddenly, a sharp sound snapped me out of my thoughts. It was the distinct hum of engines, followed by the unmistakable clanking of metal on stone. I spun around, my pulse quickening. Relief flooded through me as I saw Arcee, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen entering the temple.
"Erin!" Arcee's voice was sharp with concern as she transformed and rushed over. "We lost contact with you. Are you okay?"
Bumblebee nodded in agreement, his optics scanning me as if searching for any signs of harm. Smokescreen, always eager, looked around the temple with wide optics, his expression equal parts awe and curiosity.
I'm fine, I assured them, still trying to shake off the encounter with Megatron. But... there's something you need to know.
Arcee's optics narrowed, instantly picking up on the seriousness in my voice. "What happened?"
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to explain. I saw Megatron.
Their reactions were immediate. Bumblebee let out a shocked gasp while Smokescreen froze, his optics going wide. Arcee, however, clenched her fists, her expression hardening.
"That's impossible," Bee said, his voice tight. "Megatron's dead."
I know, I said quickly. Or, I thought I knew. But he was here, inside the temple. He... he didn't want to fight. He's changed. He talked about the war being over, about seeking redemption. He said the Decepticons are gone.
Smokescreen blinked in disbelief. "Megatron? Redemption? Are we sure this isn't some kind of trick?"
I shook my head. It didn't feel like a trick. He spoke about Solus Prime's wisdom being hidden here, about this temple holding the future of Cybertron. He seemed... different. Calm. Like he's accepted the consequences of his actions.
Arcee exchanged a look with Bumblebee, her skepticism clear. "Even if that's true, we can't trust him. Megatron's done too much damage to ever be forgiven."
"But that's not what matters right now. What matters is this key—and the Fourteenth Prime," Bee said.
"I'll call this in. Arcee to base, we have entered the temple and by-passed all traps," Arcee spoke into her comms. Ratchet installed a comm on my suit so I could also hear whatever they say.
"That's good. Keep going," Ratchet replied.
"Arcee? Is Erin with you?" I heard my brother's voice ask.
"Yeah, she's here, Evan," Smokescreen replied as he shot me a thumbs up. I could hear Evan's sigh of relief. I still couldn't believe I'm on Cybertron, literally light years away from Earth.
"Continue your mission. Report if you managed to uncover what we'e looking for," Ratchet advised.
Arcee nodded, her optics narrowing as she scanned the temple walls. She pointed to the ancient symbols, which glowed faintly under the key's light.
I stepped closer to the wall, tracing the symbols with my fingers.
"These... these must be clues. Solus Prime was said to be the keeper of great knowledge, wasn't she? Maybe she left something behind for us to find." Smokescreen wondered.
Arcee nodded, her optics focused. "If there's anything here about the Fourteenth Prime, we'll find it."
Together, we moved deeper into the temple, following the faint glow of the symbols. The air grew thicker, and the weight of ancient history pressed down on us.
Finally, we reached a massive chamber, larger than any we'd seen before. At the center of the room stood a stone pedestal, much like the one I had seen earlier, but this one was adorned with carvings of the Thirteen Primes. Above it, in the stone, was an empty space—a space meant for something to be placed.
I reached from my key, and then realised that it was inside my suit.
Ugh, stupid me.
How was I gonna get the key out?
Suddenly, just like magic, I felt the key warming up, and just like that, it went through my suit outside. I gasped. But there was no damage done to my suit. It was still attached to my neck, but now outside my suit.
I think this is it, I signed, stepping forward.
Arcee stood beside me, her optics narrowing as she examined the pedestal. "If this is what we think it is, then placing that key might reveal the identity of the Fourteenth Prime."
Smokescreen grinned. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's do it!" He placed his hand on the floor, and I climbed onto it, on my knees. Smokescreen raised me higher until I was able to see the space. I bent forward and managed to angle my body to make sure that the key lay on the pedestal.
For a moment, nothing happened. The temple remained silent, the air still. Then, slowly, the symbols around the chamber began to glow brighter. The walls hummed with energy, and the ground beneath us trembled. Smokescreen held onto me tightly, making sure I don't fall.
A beam of light shot out from the key, illuminating the ceiling. Ancient symbols danced in the air, forming words in Cybertronian script.
Arcee's optics widened as she saw the words.
"Did you guys find anything yet?" Miko shouted through the comms. I winced at the sudden loudness.
"We did find something. I think it's the name of the fourteenth prime. But it's in Cybertronian," Smokescreen reported.
"Okay, then translate it?" Jack said from the other side.
"It's not that simple. That looks like the language of the Primes. An ancient and complicated language only spoken and written by the thirteen-or as we now know, fourteen original primes. No one knows how to speak it, write it, or even understand it," Arcee explained.
Oh sugar. This mission is getting more complicated than I thought.
"Ah, but I do," a familiar voice spoke from the shadows. The bot stood in the light, and there he was.
Megatron.

A/N: I know I said was not gonna be posting a chapter for the next few days because of some stuff, I just realised that I needed a distraction. And a break
