it was the day of their inkigayo fan meet and harley had been ignored throughout the event and even though some people came up to her it was to insult her straight to her face.
harley was extremely sad but she masked her sadness because she hadn't expected anyone to like her, after all, most of her members still didn't. she was determined to prove to everyone that she deseved to be part of the group so even though she felt like bursting into tears, she still smiled and waved to her nonexistent fans.
after the fan meet, they were all escorted back to their dorm which harley had cleaned early in the morning. once they reached the dorm, harley changed to her normal practice clothes and grabbed her bag.
"where are you going?" she heard a voice which surprised her. she turned around to see jin standing in the living room. "oh, i'm going to practice." she replied, bowing to him before leaving the house.
she walked to the company and got to the practice room, playing no more dream on the speaker. she danced to the song over and over until her legs gave out and she decided to take a break.
this was just what she had to do. for herself and for others. sometimes she doubted herself too, sometimes she thought about leaving but she had already come too far to do that. she had already shown herself to the world.
after 5 minutes, she got up again despite her body still being sore and she started over, singing and dancing to the whole song.
as she reached the end, the door to the practice room opened and harley stopped dancing, looking to see who it was.
jin came into the room and closed the door as his eyes scanned the practice room. he looked at harley who was drenched from her head to her toes in sweat and he also spotted some blisters on her feet.
while he wondered why she was practicing so hard, he was also impressed and equally felt bad for her. she was working so hard and yielding little to no reward. it was unfair.
"good evening jin sunbae." she greeeted and in that moment jin realized just how cruel they'd all been to her to the point she could not even call them casually or look into their eyes.
"are you okay?" he asked, pointing to her feet. she looked down, only noticing the blisters as he asked. "oh... i'll bandage them." she replied. "thank you for asking."
jin looked at her as she continued dancing despite obviously being in pain. he walked to the speaker and paused the music making her stop and stare at him.
"let's go." jin said and began to walk towards the door. "can i change first?" she asked, still following him. jin nodded and waited outside for her to change. once she came out, she wasn't sweating anymore but she still looked very weak, like she could faint any moment.
"are you done?" jin asked and she nodded. the two walked out of the company towards a convenience store not far from it. "sit here." he patted one of the chairs outside and went in.
harley sat down and waited for jin, not knowing what to think. why had he brought her to the convenience store randomly? he'd never even talked to her before today.
after a few minutes, jin came out with bandages, cup ramyeon, kimbap and water. harley finally understood what was going on. was he taking care of her? had he really just wasted money on her?
"oh sunbaenim, there's no need, i'll-"
"stop calling me sunbaenim, just call me oppa, we're teammates after all." jin gave a sheepish smile to harley who returned the smile back. she was genuinely relieved. apart from jin, it was only hobi and jimin who she was able to call oppa since they were the only ones who really talked to her.
"okay, jin oppa." harley nodded and the two cringed at the new vocabulary before jin picked up the bandages. "give me your toe." jin gestured but harley shook her head.
"oh, i can do it myself." she said and jin carried her leg up with no hesitation, placing it on his lap. he carefully applied the ointment to the blister which had already burst and bandaged it.
as harley watched jin help take care of her foot, she knew instantly that she had won him over. and she was so grateful to have another member on her side.
