Jennie returned to her apartment to collect her packed luggage, the weight of her thoughts as heavy as the bags she carried. Every step toward the door felt like she was leaving behind a chapter of her life, one filled with uncertainty and questions she wasn't ready to answer. Her mind raced with the decisions she had made—the sacrifices, the expectations, the pressure to step into a new role she hadn't asked for. Her future felt like an unfinished canvas, blank and intimidating, and she wasn't sure how to start painting it.

With a sigh, Jennie locked her apartment door and made her way to the airport, trying to steel herself for the unknown. She had done what was asked of her, followed the path her father had set, but deep down, a small voice wondered if she had lost herself along the way.

------

Meanwhile, across the city, Lisa smiled as she finally stepped back from her easel, wiping her hands on a cloth. After long hours of work, she had completed the piece she had been so focused on. The painting had been a challenge—capturing the essence of her vision while managing the pressure of expectations—but as she stood there, taking it all in, she felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her. Every stroke had been worth it.

The gallery's manager approached, his eyes wide with admiration. "Wow, Lisa, this is absolutely beautiful. It captures more than I expected," he said, gazing at the artwork in awe.

Lisa beamed, grateful for the compliment. "Thank you. I'm just happy I could bring it to life."

Before the day ended, the team gathered for a quick meeting about tomorrow's event, where the paintings would be showcased. Everyone was abuzz with excitement, and Lisa could feel a sense of accomplishment settling in. Tomorrow was the big day, and all that was left to do was wait for the event.

After wrapping up the final preparations, Lisa returned to her hotel. Exhausted but fulfilled, she allowed herself a moment of quiet reflection.

-----

The next evening arrived, and Lisa found herself dressed in an elegant yet simple outfit for the grand art display. Her tailored black dress flowed with ease, paired with a delicate necklace and minimalistic jewelry that complemented her artistic persona. The room was alive with energy—the soft hum of conversation, the clinking of glasses, and the subtle background music adding to the ambiance.

As she moved through the gallery, Lisa exchanged words with other artists, sharing insights and mutual admiration for one another's work. Compliments floated around her as she was approached by guests who had been drawn to her painting.

"Your piece is truly captivating," one of the guests remarked. "It's so full of emotion. How did you manage to convey such depth?"

Lisa smiled, appreciating the kind words. "Thank you. It's something that just comes when I lose myself in the painting. The process is more about feeling than thinking."

As the night went on, more visitors expressed their admiration for her work. Lisa graciously accepted their praise, knowing how much effort and passion she had poured into her art.

Toward the end of the evening, the CEO of the sponsoring company approached her, a glass of champagne in hand. "Lisa, I wanted to personally congratulate you. Your work is one of the highlights of the night. I must say, we'd love to have you as a regular artist for our company. You've got an incredible gift, and I think we could do great things together."

Lisa hesitated for a moment, weighing her options before responding. "I really appreciate the offer," she began, "but I've always preferred to work independently. Besides, after this event, I have a big project in Japan that I've been dreaming of for years. It's been a long time coming, and I need to see it through."

The CEO smiled, understanding her decision. "I get it. When an artist has a vision, they need the freedom to follow it. Well, know that our doors are always open for you if you ever change your mind."

Lisa thanked him for his generosity before excusing herself. It had been a long, fulfilling day, and the event had exceeded her expectations. After wrapping up the final conversations and bidding farewell to her fellow artists, she returned to her hotel.

As soon as she arrived, she kicked off her heels, slipped into something comfortable, and collapsed onto the bed. Staring at the ceiling, she reflected on everything she had accomplished. She had successfully completed her work for the exhibit, received recognition for her talents, and stood on the verge of something even greater in Japan.

A smile crept across her face as she closed her eyes, knowing that she had made the right choices. She was exactly where she needed to be, and the future ahead looked brighter than ever.

------

Despite being exhausted from the long trip, Jennie had no choice but to comply with her father's instructions. That evening, they gathered at an upscale restaurant in the heart of Tokyo. Her father, Robert Kim, a man of firm expectations and little patience for defiance, sat at the head of the table, already discussing the upcoming wedding.

Jennie sat quietly, trying her best to mask her weariness with a forced smile. She glanced at her fiancé, Yoki Takahama, who returned her look with a soft, reassuring smile, but even he seemed lost in his thoughts.

At the dinner table, Robert Kim couldn't contain his excitement as he mumbled, "The wedding is coming up fast, and I can't wait to see everything fall into place." Yoki simply smiled, offering a polite nod, while Jennie sat quietly, forcing a small smile throughout the conversation.

As the conversation continued, Robert turned toward Yoki and asked, "Have you already secured the artist who will portray the two of you for the wedding? This is going to be a masterpiece, after all."

Yoki took a sip of his drink and responded calmly, "Yes, we've found someone. My secretary already contacted the artist after I saw her works and I can confidently our artist would be precious "

Jennie, still quiet, found herself lost in her own thoughts, barely listening to the details. She felt the weight of the situation more heavily now, knowing Yoki was eight years older than her and the whole arrangement was more about fulfilling expectations than her own desires. She gave another faint smile, masking her true emotions.

Jennie's engagement to Yoki Takahama was a carefully orchestrated move by her father, Robert Kim, to save his failing company. Mr. Kim had long admired Yoki's success as one of Japan's most influential business magnates, knowing that aligning with him would provide the financial backing and prestige his company needed. When his business started to crumble, Mr. Kim saw an opportunity to propose an alliance between the two families, using Jennie's hand in marriage as leverage.

Jennie, however, didn't want this life. She had her own aspirations and a relationship she deeply valued during her college years. But her father's wishes overruled her desires. The pressure started when Mr. Kim introduced Jennie to Yoki at a formal business meeting, with the subtle hint that this was more than just business—it was the beginning of a plan. Jennie knew from that point her father had already set things in motion, and he made it clear that marrying Yoki would be the solution to their family's financial problems. The weight of her father's words left Jennie with little choice.

Despite her protests, Mr. Kim used guilt as a tool, reminding Jennie of the sacrifices the family had made for her and the importance of protecting their legacy. He even implied that refusing Yoki's proposal would leave their company to fall apart, putting countless employees and their families at risk. It was an unbearable burden for Jennie, who wanted to protect her family's name, even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness.

Mr. Kim insisted it was time to move forward with a wedding to Yoki Takahama. Jennie, exhausted from the years of evasion and with no one to turn to for support, finally gave in. She couldn't bear the thought of disappointing her father any longer, nor the weight of the family's company potentially collapsing.

Though Jennie had become a force in her own right, she was still trapped by the expectations of her father and the engagement that had loomed over her for how many years.

She just wish her mother could be there for her.
