"Umm... yeah, they're my favorite from Starbucks..." I gushed. Daniel slipped his hands into his front pockets as we continued our walk down the hall.
"How much nerdier can you get, by the way?" he asked in a totally serious tone. So wait. One minute he's flirting with me, and the next he's acting like a total douchebag?
"...What's your problem?" I asked him. He looked down at the floor and sighed.
"See, in my head," he began. "All of you 'nerd chicks' are the same. If a guy like me even breathes the same air as you, you all think he's gonna be proposing to you he next day," he said. I was shocked to hear that come from his mouth. "Besides," he continued. "You're not even my type."
I look at him, apalled. This seemingly sweet guy really was a douchebag!
"Well I don't see how you can get any girls with an attitude like that..." I mumbled.
"Oh, believe me babe. I do," he boasted. Ugh, the nerve of this guy? These are the times where I just want to grab a baseball bat and-
My face suddenly collided with a wall in front of me, causing me to fall flat on my butt. To top it all off, I felt heat rise to my face and already knew how bad the blush was. Daniel, laughing hysterically, stopped walking and waited for me to get up.
"You could at least help me up you know..." I hissed.
"Well I wouldn't want you to think I tolerate you, that's all."
I rolled my eyes from being SO annoyed! We finally arrived at the nurse's office. I didn't even know why we had to go in. By his next comment, I guessed Daniel was a mind-reader.
"Why do we have to go in anyway? You just felt dizzy from wanting me so bad, right?" he asked cockily.
"You know what? I thought you were going to be a pretty decent guy. You smiled at me like a friend and now you're treating me like dirt. I've never done anything to hurt you or bother you in any way so would you please just leave me alone? I never knew a person could be so annoying..." I snapped at him.
"Well now you know, huh sweetheart?" he teased. "And this is just my normal personality, don't get so a**-hurt."
We turned around and headed back towards Mr. Lazar's room. Though the smell of the coffee shop was still lingering, I had grown to be repulsed by it. It was like coffee shop smell = douche bag alert. Mr. Lazar seemed surprised to see it once we walked in. I walked over to my seat and sat down with a disappointed thump. Not even 30 seconds later, the bell rang for the end of first period. I quickly put my binders and pencils into my bookbag and waited for Brittany. She was talking to Mark Evans, captain of the football team. Daniel rose from his seat, the sunlight from the window shined on him like he shined on himself. He smirked at me, thinking I was checking him out. In reality, I was thinking of different ways I could murder him. As he passed he purposely shoved into my shoulder, hard.
"You got a little drool there," he teased. When he left, I wiped the back of sweater sleeve across my mouth just in case. Brittany gave Mark a wink as she walked towards me, slinging her arm around my shoulder.
"So what was up with you and Daniel Rodriguez today?" she asked. I gave her the look that says 'I really don't want to talk about it right now. She dropped her arm back to her side and just shrugged.
"Have you seen Jake around, by any chance?" I asked Britt. Jake was like our third pea in the pod. If Brittany was my girl best friend, then Jake was my guy best friend. We had met in the fourth grade while acting in the play "Rapunzel." I played Rapunzel and he played the prince. Everyone always said that we liked eachother but in reality, we were just really good friends.
"No," Brittany answered. "But he has the same lunch period as us so I guess we'll see him then." Then I suddenly realized something. Oh crap, I totally forgot about Sam!
"Sorry, I gotta go!" I yelled to Brittany as I literally sprinted to Ms. Adam's classroom. Sam was waiting for me by the door, thinking that nobody could see her as she picked her nose. I admit, I was disgusted... but that wouldn't stop me from trying to be a friend to her. Seeing me, she quickly wiped her finger on her jeans and smiled.
"I thought you'd never come!" she said with relief.
Daniel's POV
I watched as Summer walked up to this fugly looking chick near Ms. Adam's classroom. She didn't seem to have a problem with the fact that the chick had just been digging for gold. I kind of had the need to vomit. Talking to Summer earlier was almost the death of me though. She was just SUCH a goody-two-shoes, that wasn't hot at all. I watched her hug the fugly chick as they headed back down the hallway. Summer grabbed the girl's schedule. She's a helper too? Jeez, this girl was driving me up the wall and I didn't even know her.
Mark Evans walked down the hall. I hated his guts.
I turned to see my best friend Leo heading towards me.
"Hey, good seeing you," he said as we stood there observing.
"Likewise man," I replied.
"Have you seen all these ratchet freshman this year?" he asked, laughing. I laughed along with him.
"Yeah, and even some ratchet girls in OUR grade," I said, thinking back to Summer.
"I know what you mean! But seriously, the freshman," he said, then shuddered. "Hey man, why do you keep looking at that girl over there?" he asked. My head suddenly snapped back towards him.
"What girl? Oh, her, Summer?" I asked pointing at her. He nodded. "Because I met her in English today and I had no clue I could dislike someone so much from meeting the for the first time," I said while chuckling.
"Why, she's cute and seems pretty nice..." Leo wondered out loud.
"That's just it!" I yelled. "That's not hot at all. I like bad-a** chicks, you know? Ones who are daring and not afraid to show off a little."
"Yeah but those ones are always whores," he remarked. "Girls like that 'Summer' chick are probably virgins, that's why I go for em' at least," he said with a sly smile.
"You are so effed up," I said with a laugh. Regaining himself, he said something that caughy my attention.
"Well I think you're saying you don't like her because she's just TOO good for you. I bet $500 you couldn't get her to sleep with you like all these other chicks," he joked.
"I'll take you up on that offer if you're serious. She's practically in love with me anyway," I lied. But honestly, I needed the money if he was serious. $500 wasn't a big deal to Leo anyway, that's the kind of dough drug dealers make.
"You serious?" he asked laughing. "Alright then D, you got yourself a deal."
And that was how it all started.
