Two months earlier

Kris came to me and said she wanted to talk to me about something so I stopped what I was doing immediately and told her to meet me in the living room. She went to the living room and I mentally prepared myself for what was about to be said and done. Cadajah was at work today and I'm glad she got out of the house to clear her mind and focus on something else. In the past couple months Kris and I were getting to know each other and we got very close. We talk every day and hang out whenever we can.

In the beginning of Cadajah and I dating Kiyanne and Ashley welcomed me with open arms but Kris hated my guts. Cadajah saw how she was treating me and asked Kiyanne if she could talk to Kris about getting to know me and she said she would. She talked to her everyday about it until she finally gave in and asked me if I wanted to go to lunch with her one day and I said I would love to in a heartbeat.

From that day forward we became inseparable. I felt like we're a family now that Kris and I are on the same page. From what Cadajah told me she and Kiyanne are the only people that can get through to Kristy unlike Ashley. I don't know why Ashley can't get through to her but we definitely need to talk about it later.

I met Kris in the living room and sat down on the couch.

"So what's going on sweetie?" I asked

"There's something I need to tell you." Kris said

"Okay I'm listening." I said

"I don't feel safe with my dad and my sisters feel the same way." Kris admitted

"Why is that?" I asked concerned.

"Because he makes the place a unsafe home environment." She says

"How?" I asked

"I'm scared that he might come after me if I tell you what's really going on." She said

"Sweetheart you're safe with me and your mom we won't let anything happen to you and your sisters." I assured her.

"You promise?" She asked

"I promise you have me to protect you and your sisters now I'm not going anywhere." I reassure her.

"Okay." Kris said

What she said next made me sick to my stomach. I was angry and my heart sank after she revealed what happened. I texted Cadajah to call me when she goes on her break. I guess she forgot to call because she never called. I'll keep it to myself until it's brought up again.

I gave her a much needed hug and told her that I'll protect them. Cadajah got home later that day and she could tell something was wrong.

"Hey baby you okay?" She asked

"I'm okay just trying to process what I was told earlier." I said

She looked at me confused

"What's going on?" She asked

"You forgot to call me when you got on break earlier today." I said

"Shit! I knew I forgot to do something I'm sorry babe." She said

"It's okay you know I think it's better if I wait for someone to tell you." I said

"Tell me what?" She asked

"I have a feeling that you'll know soon." I said

"Is it about the kids?" She asked

"Yes." I answered

"If it's about the kids I need to know now." Cadajah said

"Baby just talk to Kris or Ki because I know Ashley isn't going to tell you because she's scared." I explained
