Hey! This book takes place at first in the ACOTAR universe after ACOSF + without the events of CC: A House of Flame and Shadow, and it technically exists as a sequel to my earlier book, A Court of Dreams and Promise.
This can totally be read as a standalone!

Velaria, Rhysand's sister, is mated to Azriel. She was saved by Tamlin with a bargain and fled to Hybern, where Koschei took her under his belt. He then held her prisoner for hundreds of years as she worked off the life debt she owed to him. Finally, she was saved when Az found her and Rhys gave her the money her mother had left them in her will to pay off her debt.
Soon after, their spies discovered a terrible thing brewing in the Spring Court: Tamlin was planning to rectify everything that had been done to him. At a terrible Calanmai celebration, Tamlin used a lost relic to possess many High Lords and other important fae. Hellbent on revenge, Tamlin imprisoned Velaria.
After a whole book's worth of gathering allies and ultimately healing the possession out of everyone, Helion killed Tamlin with Truth-Teller.
