As the days passed, the morning routine at the café fell into a familiar rhythm. Like clockwork, Lorenzo entered every day at precisely 9 AM. The bell above the door chimed, announcing his arrival, and each time, Mia felt a flutter of nerves that she quickly quelled. He was becoming a constant presence in her life, one she couldn't ignore, even if she tried.

Lorenzo was drawn not just to the aroma of fresh coffee and warm pastries but increasingly to Mia herself. Their interactions crackled with an electric tension. He would lean casually against the counter, a lazy smile on his lips, and drop flirtatious comments under his breath that sent a shiver down her spine.

"Are you sure you want to keep working in the back, Mia? You might just be the best thing on the menu," Liam would tease, his eyes beaming with mischief and humour as he would watch our short interactions.

Mia couldn't shake the feeling of unease that accompanied her interactions with Lorenzo. On one hand, she was captivated by the presence of such a handsome and undeniably sexy man. Yet, the more she engaged with him, the more she worried that she was enjoying their exchanges a bit too much for her own comfort.

Despite the way her heart responded to him, she couldn't afford distractions. The memories of her father's frailty were always at the forefront of her mind, driving her to work harder, to ensure he received the best care possible.

Liam, ever the observant friend, had noticed the tension between Mia and Lorenzo. One morning, as they were preparing the café for the day, he leaned against the counter, arms crossed, a playful glint in his eye.

"You know, Mia, you're pretty good at pretending not to like him," he said, grinning.

"I'm not pretending, Liam," she replied, rolling her eyes but unable to suppress a smile. "I just have other priorities."

"Right," he said, arching an eyebrow. "But I see the way you light up when he walks in. Don't think I'm blind to that."

She sighed, her shoulders dropping slightly. "He's charming, I'll give him that, but I can't get involved with anyone right now. I have to think about my father."

Liam's expression softened, and he nodded in understanding. "I get it, but you can't ignore the way he looks at you. It's like you're the only person in the room for him."

"I'm sure he looks at a lot of people that way," Mia replied, her voice steadier than she felt. "I'm just a distraction for him, and I refuse to be that."

With a knowing look, Liam leaned closer. "Just be careful, alright? You know how easily these things can spiral out of control."

Mia nodded, appreciating Liam's concern. He was a solid friend, always ready with advice and a quick laugh when she needed it. As the morning rush began, she busied herself, but her thoughts often drifted back to Lorenzo.

Despite her best efforts, it was hard to ignore the way he lingered at the counter, his gaze fixed on her with an intensity that made her heart race. His playful banter made her laugh, but she kept reminding herself of her priorities.

Days turned into a week, and Lorenzo's routine became a part of her own. Each morning, she would prepare his order, mentally steeling herself for their interaction. His presence was magnetic, and while she resisted the pull, she couldn't help but feel drawn to him in ways that left her conflicted.

Despite the way he made her feel, Mia remained resolutea, putting up barriers around her heart. She was determined not to let a handsome face or a charming smile distract her from her goals. With every passing day, she would remind herself of the importance of her work and her family, keeping her focus sharp and her heart guarded.
