Caitlin POV:
The next day I wake up and Liv wasn't with me, last night we cuddled and that's the last thing I remember before falling asleep so It was weird that she wasn't with me this morning. I hear her voice through the closed door and when I open it, I see she's on the phone crying. "I'll be there as soon as I can, bye." She sees me standing and wipes her tears, "I have to leave." I walk over to her and pull her into a hug, "What happened Liv?" She squeezes me tight and starts to cry, "My mom. She's been sick for a while and-and she's in the hospital. I just got off the phone with them and they said they needed to talk to me immediately." I pull back and wipe her cheeks, "What hospital is she at?""The IU."
"Okay then, let's go." I say as I go to grab her car keys, but she stops me, "Cait, I can't ask you to go, you have a preseason game tomorrow that you need to be packing for."
"Liv. I can pack for that later, don't worry about me."
I grab her car keys and we get into her car, I get to the hospital as fast as I could and we are now running up to the front desk lady, "Hi, My name is Olivia West, I got a call earlier saying my mom was here." The lady rolls her eyes and says, "I need a name." I could tell Liv was nervous, and this front desk person was not making the situation any better so I decide to speak up for her, "Her name is Emily West ma'am," After a few clicks of her keyboard and mouse she finally says, "Room 339 ladies." We both get on the elevator and I'm the first to speak up, "Who peed in her coffee this morning?" I mutter, Liv laughs as we step off the elevator. We finally make it to her room with doctors standing in front of her door.
The doctor finally spots us and gives us a tight lipped smile, "Hi, are you Olivia?"
Olivia nods her head nervously waiting for the doctor to continue, "Hi Miss, I'm doctor James."
"Hi, how is she?" Liv says nervously.
"Miss West. Your mother has Breast cancer, stage 2. She's very lucky that we found out in the early stages because it's more treatable, it's going to be a lot miss West. But your mother is a very strong woman."
She immediately breaks down into sobs and I pull her into me, the doctor watches our interaction and softly says, "You guys can see her if you'd like. She just woke up from a nap." And he walks away to give me and Liv some privacy in the hallway, she's still sobbing and I tilt her head to make her look at me, "Olivia I am so sorry. No one deserves this." I give her a kiss on the head and she tightly pulls back into me, "Thank you for being here." She whispers, "I'll always be here." I whisper back. After a few more moments her sobs slowly subsided. "Are you ready to go in there?" She slowly nods her head and I say, "I'll stay out here to give you guys some privacy." She immediately shakes her head and interlaces our fingers, "No. Come with me. Please?"
I nod my head and she opens the doors and her mom's face immediately lights up, "Liv!" She says and Olivia goes over to her and gives her a hug, "I missed you so much dear."
"I missed you too mom. How are you feeling?"
She brushes it off and says, "Oh same old same old." Her eyes land on me and she smiles, "Hello." I smile and I walk up beside Olivia and I crouch down next to her, "Hi Mrs West, I'm Caitlin."
"Oh yes Caitlin! My Olivia talks about you quite a lot. And please, call me Emily dear." I look over at Liv and see that her cheeks have turned bright red, "Okay mom! I think that's enough."
After a few more hours at the hospital I look at the time and realize it's time for me to go pack for Dallas, "I'll walk you out." Olivia says, once we reach the hallway, she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me into a tight hug, "Thank you for staying with me Caitlin, it means a lot."
