Prologue: The lonely royals.

You approach the old house on the mountain. You can't believe it. This guy could have all the answers to your questions. Suddenly, Shermy hops onto your shoulder.

Shermy: Come on, man! Aren't you curious about what they have to say?

"I am, but I'm still nervous. Is this really it?"

Beth places her paw on your shoulder.

Beth: Don't worry, it's not gonna be too bad. Let's not think about it. It's better we get this done.

"You guys are right. Let's do this."

You and your friends approach the house, Shermy fooling around up ahead while you and Beth talk.

"Do you ever worry about what's gonna happen to this planet?"

Beth: What?

"One day, it'll all be gone... and will we be there for it?"

Beth: I... I don't know. But what do we have to be afraid of? You, me... and this little goofball will all be there as it ends.

"Well, if I had to die, it'd be with you guys."

They enter the building, the door seeming ready to fall off its rusty old hinges. Somewhere inside, they hear voices...

???: So, what will you do now? You're DONE for!

??? 2: I wouldn't be so sure.

???: What? What makes you say that?

??? 2: I have learned necromancy.

???: Wha- Nononono don't-!

??? 2: I floop the pig.

???: NOOOOOOO!

Beth makes a face and looks at you and Shermy, who's holding in a ton of laughter.

Beth: What is going on in there?

Shermy: I don't know, but it sounds like one HELL of a game!

You all peek around the corner and see a hooded figure and a little game device playing card wars.

"Um... excuse me?"

They jump up and look at you.

"I'm here to speak to the rumored royalty."

The hooded figure looks annoyed.

??? 2: Tch, which one?

He walks away to the window and stares out it. The game device looks apologetic.

???: I am so sorry. My name is BMA. I am the princess of Aaa!

"Nice to meet you, BMA. Who's the grumpy guy?"

BMA: *Sigh* That's... Nihil. He's a little bit... moody right now.

Nihil: I can hear you, ya know.

BMA:...Right. Well, he and I have been here a long time. He's the prince of darkness.

Shermy: That sounds like a rad album!

Beth: Shh!

Shermy groans and shuffles away to go pout somewhere.

BMA: We've been here since the end.

"The... end?"

BMA: The end of our story. A stories end always comes.

"I... I never thought of it that way..."

Nihil: Yeah, yeah, why the hell are you here?

"I came to ask... what am I?"

Nihil: You're a freak, end of sentence, now get out.

"Wait, I-"

Nihil: GET OUT, OR I'LL... I'll...

Shermy is standing nearby, holding a dusty book.

Shermy: What's this?

He blows on it, causing dust to fly everywhere.

Nihil: You dumbass! You... found it.

Shermy: I did? I mean, yeah, of course I did!

Nihil takes the book. The cover reads,'Our times of adventure.' He stares in silence for a bit.

Nihil: I haven't seen this in years...

His voice breaks a bit, as it almost sounds like he's holding back tears.

BMA: No... it can't be! Your old journal!

Nihil:...You wanted to know what you are? That is a very, VERY long story. Maybe you come back every day, I'll tell another bit.

You, Shermy, and Beth, high five. Nihil chuckles at your antics.

Nihil: I'll admit. You remind me of us... Now! Sit down, as our tale begins long ago. One night, in a place called... Earth, cattle were grazing. Do you know what cattle is? Actually, never mind. Sheep were grazing, when up, up, up from the shadows rose a beast. It was called... The LICH. A foul creature whose sole purpose was to destroy all. He came to the sheep and decided, let them perish, except the worthy. The sheep all fell and rotted into hollow corpses on the spot. But one stood. It seemed scared. The Lich made this one his accomplice. He made him into a demon, evil and powerful. Together, they destroyed Earth. But eventually, the sheep had killed the parents of a child. The sheep would've killed her too... but he stopped. The poor girl was trembling and crying, clutching a small stuffed thing. The sheep stood against the Lich and refused to kill anymore innocent people. He fought him and banished him to the shadows where he belonged. In the end, the sheep remained a demon but disguised it. He helped the girl find her way until he could leave her with someone better. Before she left, the girl hugged him and said one word that changed him. "Friend." Ashamed by his actions, the demon hid himself away in the caves of Earth. When he rose, many years later...

Nihil yawns.

Nihil: Oh, f*ck me, I'm tired. Tell you what, you guys can stay the night, and I'll tell you more tomorrow.

Shermy and Beth groan.

Shermy + Beth: Really?

Nihil: Yes. Now go sleep.

Nihil and BMA go to their rooms, while Beth lies by a window. Shermy hops up on top of her and stares out the window. Beth glances over at you.

Beth: Y/n, come on, dude. It's time to sleep.

"One second. I need to talk to the stars."

Beth: This again? Whatever, come over when you're ready.

She rolls over and hugs Shermy. You chuckle and look out the window. You close your eyes and sense something... and in an instant, it's gone as quickly as it came. Huh.

Tomorrow, you'll hear more about this story. You can't help but wonder, who was the girl? Why did she trust the demon so much? You sit next to Beth, who hugs you, too. Well, it's not worth thinking about now. Is it?
