Impaled- Rengoku

He liked to pride himself in being the best demon slayer he could be. Which was why Rengoku fought all his battles with all his might. After the train derailed, he found himself fighting a powerful demon, upper moon 3, Akaza. Of course, he was at least a bit scared, this was an upper moon after all, however, he had to be brave, for the people he was protecting. So, he did his very best.

However, as he tried to land his final attack, he felt a pain in his chest. The attack didn't land. Looking down was the most horrific thing he had to see in his life. There it was. An arm, with no visible hand. It was inside him. his insides were turning to mush as the hand had pushed through his flesh, pushing it out the way to make room for itself. then even is organs had to move aside or be ripped to shreds. Some moved, some didn't. either way it was painful. as he felt it puncture through him, he felt this odd sensation of being empty. Well, there was literally a hole in him. so of course, he felt like he was missing something. It was like he'd been torn to shreds but some cruel god was keeping him alive, maybe it was his own breath that was torturing him.

The hand twisted. And Rengoku could feel his whole-body twist with it. like they followed the first round, doing a twisted dance and mixing his organs up like soup. That was when he felt true pain. Out all the horrible things that had happened on his missions this was the worst. He could swear that somehow his head was floating and that for some reason his soul had left his body before he'd actually died. Somehow that fact that he was actually going to die hadn't hit him yet. Like he was in a very strong state of denial.

Slowly the sun began to rise. Like a beacon of hope for every last demon slayer there. Maybe, just maybe, they'd at least kill the demon that had killed without a second thought. But to their despair the demon ripped his arm off, realising that it was stuck in Rengoku. The pulling was like a million smaller stabs to Rengoku as he felt blood burst out of him. maybe the arm being ripped off was his last slice of luck, clearly, he hadn't had very much today. It was a weird feeling to briefly have someone's arm inside him. but luckily that didn't last long. Soon his entire body became numb from all the pain.

Maybe it was just because he'd always been strong but the idea of dying on a mission had always seemed natural to him but at the same time, completely impossible. He'd never lost. Although really anyone he'd fought probably hadn't either. He couldn't let anyone know that though. So, he put on a brave face for the younger slayers. They would never have to know the fear he felt deep down, hopefully.
