THE GIRL IS MINE.
❞tangled obsession,

The door clicked shut behind Nicholas and Amelia as they stepped into the house, the weight of the day barely registering.
Amelia gave him a tired smile before heading upstairs, her footsteps fading into the quiet of the house. They had been together for months, but something had shifted. Amelia hadn’t noticed the growing distance, the way his attention was always somewhere else. She wasn’t what he needed anymore.
Not since he met Celeste.
It had been months ago, on a rainy afternoon when Amelia introduced them. She had dragged Celeste along to a casual lunch, eager to show off her boyfriend.
Nicholas remembered the moment clearly—Celeste standing there, quiet and awkward, with eyes that darted away from his. When Amelia introduced her, calling her “the famous Celeste” with a proud grin, something clicked inside him. At first, he had been polite, playing his role as the charming boyfriend, but something about Celeste’s discomfort stayed with him.
She had shifted in her seat throughout lunch, avoiding his gaze, her responses short and measured. Her body language was closed off, almost like she was afraid of him, and for reasons he couldn’t explain, that intrigued him. Most people tried too hard to impress him, but not Celeste. She seemed uncomfortable, and Nicholas felt a twisted sense of satisfaction knowing that. It fueled his curiosity, drawing him in deeper.
Nicholas couldn’t help but marvel at how quickly he had become infatuated with Celeste.
It was strange, almost unsettling, the way she had infiltrated his mind and heart in such a short time. At first, he had simply seen her as Amelia’s best friend, but now she consumed his thoughts, a haunting presence that lingered long after their brief encounters. Her unease around him had sparked a twisted excitement, and he found himself drawn to her vulnerability like a moth to a flame.
It was irrational, this obsession that had blossomed so rapidly, transforming her from a mere acquaintance into an essential part of his every waking moment. There was something about her innocence, the way she carried herself with an unassuming grace, that captivated him and stirred emotions he hadn’t expected to feel.
As time went on, his curiosity grew into something darker, and more consuming. He found excuses to see her more often, to be around her, despite the fact of him being aware of her unease. It wasn’t long before that wasn’t enough. He needed more—he needed to see her when she wasn’t pretending when she wasn’t guarded. That’s when he began planning.
It had been almost too easy to install the camera. He had learned where she lived, tracked her routine, and waited for the right moment. One afternoon, while she was out, he’d used a pretext to gain access to her apartment.
She never knew, never suspected a thing. He had carefully placed the camera in her living room, hiding it so it blended seamlessly with the décor. A small, nearly invisible lens nestled among the shadows, giving him a perfect view of her most intimate moments. It had taken precision and patience, but it was worth every second.
Now, Nicholas sank into the armchair in his living room, his phone already in hand.
Upstairs, Amelia was settling in for the night, getting comfortable in his bed. She would be staying for two weeks, something they had agreed upon after their conversation on set. But now, she was just an afterthought, a blur in the periphery of his obsession.
