Hi guys,

I haven't given up on writing.

No, I have this writing plan all mapped out, and this story will have like 18 chapters or something eventually.

It's just that I don't have that much free time to write, and I have an upcoming test week.

Last week, I took a break from writing, and this chapter took me 4 days to complete. So I guess that's my excuse for not uploading for two weeks, lol.

But I'm back!

And I present you a chapter featuring none other than 3.4K WORDS!

I cut this chapter in two since I noticed it got over 3.5K words, and I'm not even halfway done... So I guess I'm bad at planning chapters? I don't know, but I will upload the other half too as compensation for not uploading last week. (But on sunday, I've also decided Friday will be my upload day -from now on-.)

XOXO, Roos

A week had passed since the day Courtney's dad had announced they would transfer him.

His parents had immediately started looking into new schools with special education. Actually, it was mainly his mom trying to sort things out as quickly as possible. But Courtney didn't care about that. He was actually glad that it would be his mom picking out his future school and not his dad. His dad would have put way less time into searching and probably picked the first school that showed up on Google Maps and was closest to their house.

His mom had even taken some days off from work to spend all her free time looking for schools and making calls to get all the documents ready for Courtney's transfer.

Meanwhile, Courtney spent most of those days at school or in his room. Almost every day, other than Wednesday, the principal had to call home to get someone to come pick him up. He just couldn't prevent getting into accidents, and some of the teachers were very strict with a no-toilet rule during class. So he spent all his 'free' afternoons taking care of the household, feeling slightly guilty for putting so much pressure on his mom.

They had agreed to keep this fact silent, and in return, Courtney promised to help his mom out as much as he could.

Finally, at Sunday dinner, his dad brought up the conversation again.

"Your mom has finally found a school that we think would suit you nicely," his dad stated.

Courtney just nodded, hoping that if he didn't say much, the conversation would end quickly. He wanted to spend as little time in the same room as his dad as possible.

The tension at the table was thick, like the air before a storm.

No one said anything. The silence echoed in the quiet dining room. His dad had fallen silent after his statement.

Normally, he had more to say—usually instructions or critiques—but tonight, he just sat there, drumming his fingers softly on the table as if waiting for the right moment.

His father cleared his throat, causing Courtney to glance up. "Courtney," he said, his voice already stern with an edge that made Courtney's stomach tighten. "It's not nice to stay quiet when we're having a conversation. At least try to be interested."

Courtney's heart skipped a beat. He had apparently struck a nerve, but he really didn't know how else he could've handled it. "Alright," he mumbled.

His father never minced words. "You're starting at this new school next week. It's not working out where you are now. I know about all the phone calls from last week."
