The Cracked Mirror

Our city screams with blinding lights

Where hollow souls give up the fight

Distant screams and endless nights

Every face a broken dream

A silent tear, a muted scream.

We built these walls on shallow ground

Who is left to tear them down?

Each promise we make, each lie we keep,

We build a grave for hope so deep.

We sneak for progress so loud and proud

But all I hear is a choking crowd

We preach for futures bright and wide

Yet trample those who stand beside

Is this the best that we can be?

This twisted sick society?

A mirror cracked to blind to see

A world of pain, hypocrisy.
