Princess lottery
My name is Eudora De Le Ciel, I am sixteen years old, and I am dreading the founding holiday party that will arrive in six short months.
"But Eudora," you might say to me, "How can you dread the most anticipated holiday in the entirety of Rhodanthe?" And the answer is quite simple- I abhor the Rhodanthe family as they stand now, why would I enjoy the chance to celebrate them?
The entire lot of the royal family are narcissistic wads who all have nothing better to do with their time than to bicker with governors over the price of tea and which flowers shall be planted in the east-gate flower beds. And if you believe me to be jesting, I assure you I am not- i have a source more primary than the paper.
My bosom friend Roslen Katherine Kline is a girl of very high standing- in the figurative and the physical. My dear Roslen has the most gorgeous red hair and eyes, a deep ruby color that pleases the senses instead of aggravates as I find many red colors to do. Her hair and eyes shine such a deep rose color due to the origin of her mother's family, the maternal side hails from Phoenix Bay. In this area, all citizens worship the Phoenix, one of the oldest of all Mythical creatures, and are thus blessed with the "Phoenix's Kiss."
These people have no other special qualities beyond their altered appearance showing the creature's affection for them. In contrast, of course, are the people of the Mystique Islands that are tucked far off the coast between Svarga and Najma. The inhabitants of these islands are one with the mists, their eyes all an aquamarine hue with long, flowing black hair that resembles the waves. I have not found a book that mentions what or whom they worship- or if they worship anything at all. I don't know the source of that power, but I suppose I shouldn't get too down about it, they aren't called the "Mystique Islands" because they are an open book!
Anyways, apologies for my tangent, I had spent the afternoon in the library and many things were obviously still on my mind. My friend Roslen is a lady in waiting in the court of the Rhodanthes! She hears all their petty issues, and we enjoy giggling at them over a cup of Ludian tea at a quaint inn we frequent. Speaking of which, I'm supposed to meet her there in just a couple minutes, I had better be on my way,
Eudora
...
Eudora pulls the thin fabric of the pale purple dress she chose over her slender shoulders and the sweet maid Agathe loops the single button behind her lady's neck. Today, Eudora wore double-lined stockings, thick white mittens, and chose a plush green cloak to complete the ensemble. She doesn't consider herself a trendy girl. with pride, she wears clothes from Ludia and not much else, besides what she needs to keep from freezing. Eudora is Ludian, not Rhodanthian, no matter how much her father and sister try to convince her to think otherwise.
She bids her favorite maid Agathe farewell, and steps out of her chambers. Slowly crossing the grand sweeping hall titled, "Dolcor Hall" that was built when she was eight, then stepping down the large and grand entry-way staircase named "The Stairs of Paradiz" that was built when she was six. For you see, everything in an important household requires a name, or else it's not actually important- so her father says. As she passes by, Eudora looks at the magnificent portraits that are hung along the wall: Eudora and her mother when she was one, Eudora and her mother when she was two, Eudora and her mother when she was three, and the list goes on. Eudora's younger sister is not included in these special portraits despite being a pretty young girl who just turned fourteen. Eudora has always chalked this up to her family wanting to show off the star birthmark that sits on her clavicle, it's present in every portrait, and she can hardly go out in public without showing it off, like some peacock posturing for a mate. Her family believes it helps remind others of their importance, but Eudora fears everyone already knows her face, so there's no use in showing off the mark as well. But her thought digresses, she's reached the main doors that were a gift to the De Le Ciel family from King Rhodanthe for Eudora's birth, and happily exits the estate.
