A Hidden Haven
Inside Joe’s apartment, they kicked off their shoes and sank onto the couch, still buzzing from their close call.
“I can’t believe we just ran from the paparazzi,” Emma said, shaking her head in disbelief. “I mean, this is our life now?”
Joe laughed, leaning back against the couch. “Welcome to the wild side. But honestly, I’m glad we did. It’s kind of exhilarating, isn’t it?”
Emma smirked, curling up beside him. “You’re just a thrill-seeker, huh?”
“Maybe,” he admitted, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “But I’d much rather be on this adventure with you than anyone else.”
They settled into a comfortable silence, and Emma rested her head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“Can I ask you something?” she said, her voice soft.
“Of course. Anything,” Joe replied, turning slightly to meet her gaze.
Emma hesitated for a moment. “What do you really think about all this? About us? I mean, with the media and everything?”
Joe took a deep breath, weighing his words carefully. “Honestly, I think we’ve got something special. And yeah, the media’s a pain, but I believe it’s worth it. I want to see where this goes, Emma. You mean a lot to me.”
Her heart swelled at his words. “You have no idea how much that means to me. I feel the same way. But it’s hard not to worry about what people will say.”
“I know,” he said, brushing his fingers through her wet hair. “But I want you to know that I’m in this. I’m all in.”
Emma smiled, feeling a rush of affection for him. “Okay. Then let’s just enjoy it while we can, even if it means hiding in dark alleys and avoiding the paparazzi.”
Joe chuckled, pulling her closer. “Agreed. We’ll make our own memories, just the two of us.”
