The 5th period bell rang. I gathered my things and was about to leave class when Mr. Adams told me to stay. I was hesitant to stay because I was supposed to leave and pick up Ross. I went over to his desk. "Yes?" "I'm getting reports that you havent been going to your next class period and I've noticed you're very distracted in my class. I'm afraid your going through something really rough at home, and that it's affecting your school work." He said.

Oh no not another talk about my life and my feelings.

"Rayne. If you need someone to talk to, im here, and the guidance office is right down the hall and Mrs. Williams will be very helpful." "Mr. Adams. I have to go I'm late already." I said trying to inch away to the door, so I could just get out of there. "Just think about it. Ok?" He said with a concerned look on his face. I looked at him and gave a small, nod and quickly left and went out of his classroom. I ran down the hall, and that's when I got stopped by the vice principal. She looked at me and knew who I was, considering all my unexcused tardys and trips to the office. She took my arm,"And where are you going?" She said with her raspy voice. "The bathroom", I lied, I had to leave to get Ross and I was loosing time. She then let go and told me to go. (Thank god!) That took an extra 35 minutes out of my time to get Ross, so I half ran to the middle school.

I slowed down once I spotted his school. I was so out of shape and began panting. I've never been late before, so Ross is gonna be worried. I walked into the school, to where I normally find Ross sitting.

That's weird.. He wasn't there I looked around the room. There was no sign of my little brothers shaggy brown hair anywhere.. That's when I got nervous. I ran to the main office of the middle school. There was a tall bright eyed lady at the front desk. "Excuse me, but I need my little brother to leave and I don't see him here." I said holding back my worry. "What's his name and ill call him over the intercom."She asked. "Ross Tucker." I said. Then she turned and picked up an older looking phone and pressed a button. "I need Ross tucker to the front office." She hung up and looked at me. "You may sit outside and wait if you'd like." I nodded and sat on the same bench where Ross sits waiting for me everyday.

20 minutes went by and there was no sign of Ross anywhere. I was getting really freaked out. I walked back into the office. "Um I came in here 20 minutes ago asking for Ross Tucker? But he hasn't showed up." Then the lady at the desk pulled out a large book and flipped to the names under R and found my brothers name. "Oh I'm sorry. Yes he was picked up an hour ago by Alex Tucker."
