The Jiang family manor was located on a hillside. Perhaps it was because of this that the sky always seemed exceptionally vibrant and beautiful. It was sunset now, and vast swathes of fiery clouds stretched across the sky. The edges of the sunset had a plaster-like bluish-purple hue. Cars streamed into the manor, their bodies casting shimmering shadows.

It was still an hour before the official start of the dinner party, but most of the guests had already started driving in. The doormen were bustling about, opening car doors for guests, guiding them, checking invitations, and they were all incredibly busy.

This time, quite a few relatives from the Jiang family's side branch came. Entering the manor, they couldn't help but marvel at the extravagance of the main branch. Upon their arrival, they also took on the responsibility of half-hosts, helping Jiang Qingshuang and the others with the socializing.

However, as the number of guests increased, some people began to inquire about the absence of the fiancée, Wen Zhijiao. In wealthy families, there was no shortage of feudalistic rules, and some people guessed that she must not have officially gotten engaged yet, so she wasn't considered a member of the Jiang family, and therefore the Jiang family didn't let her come out to greet guests as a member of the family.

This guess was very convincing, satisfying the prejudices among the wealthy, and it was quickly embraced.

However, this casual guess was pretty accurate. Indeed, Jiang Qingshuang and Jiang Yuancheng hadn't let Wen Zhijiao come out. Jiang Qingshuang felt that Wen Zhijiao's previous reception of guests had been clumsy and shocking, and she was afraid that she would cause a scene at tonight's dinner party, so she didn't let her participate. Jiang Yuancheng's thoughts were simpler. Wen Zhijiao didn't want to go, and he agreed out of selfishness.

The banquet hall was located in the lounge area near the residential area. The three-story vaulted building was luxuriously decorated. The third floor had various performance stages for bands or orchestras to perform. The second floor had various exquisite viewing platforms and entertainment facilities, while the first floor had various dining tables. This environment was comfortable whether you wanted to socialize, go on a blind date, or just be alone. The only person who wasn't comfortable was probably Pei Ye.

Gu Ye and Xie Guanhe were both incredibly busy. One was flying around the world talking business, and the other was gradually taking over the Xie family's political territory, busy visiting elders everywhere. Only Pei Ye, who was in the off-season, was like a big idler.

After socializing with a few friends who came to greet him, Pei Ye felt a little regretful.

He had agreed to come, but maybe he should have learned from Gu Ye and Xie Guanhe. He would rather get up early to attend the engagement ceremony than come to the dinner party for comfort. Because now he was anything but comfortable. The two he got along with really well weren't here. One... he glanced at Jiang Yuancheng, who was a few steps away, chatting with someone. The other was no longer a brother.

Even Wen Zhijiao wasn't here.

Pei Ye placed his glass on the table, sat down, leaned back in his chair, and stared at the magnificent chandelier under the dome. After a while, he heard the sound of a chair being pulled back. He looked over and saw Jiang Yuancheng with a faint smile on his face, sitting down beside him.

"Have a drink?" Jiang Yuancheng took a glass of champagne from the waiter's tray nearby. His gray eyes curved slightly. "Why don't you go play? You're sitting here alone."

Pei Ye, expressionless, also took a glass of champagne. He squinted at Jiang Yuancheng, opened his mouth, and drank the wine in one gulp. "What, you mean you can only socialize when you come to a banquet?"

"Of course not. Have fun." Jiang Yuancheng took a sip of his wine. Under his slicked-back black hair, his features were even more deep and three-dimensional. His smirk was particularly striking. "I say that because you don't look very happy."

His words somehow sounded meaningful to Pei Ye.

Pei Ye took a closer look at Jiang Yuancheng. He was wearing a silver-gray suit, which accentuated his broad shoulders and muscular physique. He held a glass of wine in one hand and a cane in the other, which didn't make him look awkward in the slightest. He just looked composed and noble.

He took out his pocket watch and pretended to check the time, secretly looking at the reflection in the watch cover. A few strands of his white hair were scattered across his handsome and rebellious face. The suit fit him well, but for some reason, it made him look like a spoiled rich kid.

What the hell, he wasn't any worse looking than Jiang Yuancheng. He had been exercising, so why did Jiang Yuancheng, who wasn't much older than him, look like he had everything under control? No, that's not right. After all, Gu Ye and Xie Guanhe were always like that.

Pei Ye felt a nameless anger in his heart. He closed his pocket watch and glared at Jiang Yuancheng. "You don't need to be so subtle with your insinuations, and you don't need to pretend like nothing happened here. We're not brothers anymore, anyway."

“How could that be? Are you still upset about what happened last time?  [()] [Come to [] to read the latest chapter and complete chapter.]  ” Jiang Yuancheng acted like a brother indulging his younger brother, just shaking his head helplessly. "I was just mistaken."

Jiang Yuancheng's gray eyes fixed on him, his voice low. "You're here at the dinner party, you're here to attend... my engagement party with Jiaojiao. That proves that you don't have any extra feelings for Jiaojiao, doesn't it?"

Pei Ye lowered his gaze, staring at the orange liquid in the goblet. "You're still trying to get at me. You call that just being mistaken?"

"This time, you're mistaken. I'm glad you're here. Jiaojiao will be happy too. She's always hoped that our engagement would have the support of you, Gu Ye, and Guanhe."

Jiang Yuancheng tapped the table, and the butler standing behind him placed a tray on the table.

Pei Ye frowned, but he saw a document and a pen on the tray. "What does this mean?"

Jiang Yuancheng pushed the tray towards him with his finger, leaned back in his chair, and looked at Pei Ye. "This is the race car I had someone buy for you. It's the race car of the D-country champion. It's worth more than yours. The document is the transfer agreement. Sign it."

He smiled. "This is compensation. I hope our relationship can be mended, and I hope... you don't hold a grudge against Jiaojiao for that car and then go after her. It's a nuisance."

Jiang Yuancheng's pause was almost malicious.

Pei Ye's heart skipped a beat. A flame shot from his chest to his throat, then to his head, spreading from his ears to his cheeks. He looked at Jiang Yuancheng and said, "Are you humiliating me? Do you even have the right to humiliate me?"

He was about to grab his glass and throw it in his face, or grab Jiang Yuancheng's tie and punch him, but he somehow managed to hold back.

Pei Ye stood up, picked up the pen, and signed his name. He grinned, his lips stretching first, as if he were smiling. His sharp teeth flashed coldly. "Okay, good brother. I look forward to the day the car is delivered to my house. Thanks."

He finished speaking and finished signing his name, but the next second, he threw the document at Jiang Yuancheng. The paperclip couldn't hold the thick document, and the pages fluttered in the wind.

Like a flurry of snowflakes, the papers drifted from the table between Pei Ye and Jiang Yuancheng. Page after page fluttered between him and Pei Ye. The surrounding sounds abruptly stopped because of the commotion, and countless gazes no longer hid themselves, openly peering at them. The candle flames on the table burned, and a few pages of paper were ignited, then blown out by the wind. The paper, with ashes and sparks, drifted down onto the fruit piled on the plate.

Jiang Yuancheng was still leaning back in his chair, his long legs crossed. He held his cane in one hand and his other hand on his knee. He turned his head to look at Pei Ye. While Pei Ye had already walked up to Jiang Yuancheng, he bent down  [()] [Come to [] to read the latest chapter and complete chapter.]  and smiled. "You think I, Pei Ye, am really at your mercy? Or do you think that now that Wen Zhijiao is engaged to you, you can rest easy?"

He put his hand on Jiang Yuancheng's shoulder, his eyes narrowed. "Since you insist on playing this 'legitimate wife' game with me, why shouldn't I indulge you? You're going to humiliate me anyway, right? Okay, you better have the life to fight me. I'm still young, and I'm perfectly healthy."

Pei Ye's voice was very low, almost only the two of them could hear. He patted his shoulder. "You, on the other hand, are missing an arm and a leg now. Don't ask me to give Wen Zhijiao to you in the future."

Jiang Yuancheng's face grew darker and darker, but when he heard the last part, he laughed. He said, "Then let's wait and see who begs whom in the end."

He stood up, his face still had that expression that couldn't be read as happy or unhappy. He picked up the champagne on the table and drank it. Then, he said lightly, "Have fun at the dinner party."
