Taehyung settled into a chair in the bustling waiting room, his heart racing with anticipation. He pulled out his phone and dialed the head of Jungkook's team, desperate for news.

"Did Jungkook leave for his flight yet?" he asked, his voice tight with worry.

The reply came back, and disappointment washed over him like a cold wave. "He left yesterday evening and landed late last night. He wanted to surprise you, but… he didn’t inform you?"

Taehyung's brow furrowed. A surprise? That should’ve made him happy, yet an unsettling feeling churned in his stomach. Why wasn’t Jungkook here?

His mind raced. Had something gone wrong? Why wasn’t he picking up his calls? Taehyung glanced around the waiting room, the noise fading into a distant hum. Images of their last moments together flashed in his mind—Jungkook’s playful grin, the way his eyes sparkled with mischief.

Taehyung’s fingers tapped nervously against the armrest. He imagined Jungkook somewhere, perhaps caught up in some unexpected trouble. The thought made his chest tighten with dread.

He stood up, pacing the small space, trying to shake off the unease. “Maybe he just lost his phone,” he muttered to himself, but the worry lingered, persistent and nagging. What if he was hurt? Or worse?

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. “He’ll turn up,” he reassured himself. “He’s just trying to make it special.”

But as each minute ticked by without a sign of Jungkook, the unease only grew stronger. Taehyung couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

Taehyung’s anxiety surged, drowning out the ambient noise of the waiting room. With a deep breath, he reached for his phone once more, scrolling through his contacts until he found Hoyeon’s name. She was a close friend and a police officer, known for her resourcefulness and quick thinking.

He hit the call button, his heart racing as the line connected.

“Hoyeon, it’s Taehyung,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady despite the worry creeping in. “I need your help. It’s about Jungkook.”

“What’s going on?” Hoyeon asked, her tone shifting to serious immediately.

“He landed last night but hasn’t shown up. He isn’t answering his phone, and I’m… I’m really worried.”

There was a brief pause on the line before Hoyeon replied, “Okay, stay calm. I’ll see what I can do. Do you have any idea where he might have gone?”

“Not really. He mentioned wanting to surprise me, but it’s unlike him to just vanish.”

“I’ll track his last known location,” Hoyeon assured him. “Just hang tight. I’ll call you back as soon as I have something.”

Taehyung felt a flicker of hope mixed with the lingering anxiety. “Thank you, Hoyeon. Please hurry.”

As he ended the call, he paced again, thoughts racing through his mind. What if Jungkook was in trouble? The waiting room felt suffocating, the minutes stretching endlessly as he waited for any news. Each second felt like a lifetime.

He glanced at his phone repeatedly, hoping for a message or call that would ease his mind. Hoyeon was resourceful—if anyone could find Jungkook, it was her. But still, the uncertainty gnawed at him. Would he really be able to pull through this, or would he have to face the fear of losing the person he cared for most?

As Taehyung waited, his anxiety morphed into a sense of urgency. Finally, his phone buzzed, and he quickly answered, his heart pounding.

“Hoyeon?” he said, breathless.
