Bruno came to his senses as he sat on the couch and wiped his face, looking at Mary Etta and Clayton in confusion.

"I suppose there are better ways than just poking at my beauty sleep."

"Businessmen are looking for efficiency."

Clayton handed him the unspilled bit of water in his glass, and he raised his neck and drank it down in one gulp, washing the sticky feeling out of his mouth.

Recovering a little, Bruno looked at them in surprise.

"When did you guys meet?"

"We don't know each other." The two replied together. Then in unison again, "This time I'm looking for you on business."

Clayton watched Mary Etta sideways, listening to Bruno's words, she should be someone Bruno knew as well. And as if sensing his line of sight, Mary likewise stared straight over at the needle without avoiding it.

This kind of weird tacit understanding made Bruno a little suspicious that he was still hungover...

He shook his head and snapped his ears again before he was sure it was all true:

"Okay, so who's first."

Bruno gestured to the bedroom, signaling the next business talker to go in with him.

He usually always took his alcoholic breaks in the living room, and the bedroom was cleaner instead. One-on-one communication also prevented his employer from revealing his privacy.

Without any argument, Marie Etta stepped forward. But not a glance in the direction of the bedroom:

"Let's talk here."

"That's fine, name your requirements."

Bruno took out a pen and paper and spread it flat on the table and began to write the incident intake record, ignoring Clayton to the side. Since his employer was fine with it, he wouldn't let Creighton out.

Mary obediently took a seat across the table, "I want you to follow up on a man who is heavily suspected of committing a crime."

The rustle of writing came from Bruno's pen, there was a slight pause, then he looked up, "You're the sheriff. Wouldn't it be better to see the crime and arrest him on the spot."

Clayton thought to himself that it was none of his business and waited with his face toward the door and his back to them.

Mary Etta's voice continued, "It was only a suspicion, and I was out on patrol that day, so I lost the opportunity to question him, and by the time I got back to the sheriff's office, the case against him was closed. The man was also a well-known local gentleman, and no one else wanted to offend him. Now the only way to get to the bottom of the case is by private action."

"You're really doing your job."

Bruno scratched his straw-like hair, he was already surprised by the justice of this female magistrate, "So, is there any personal information about him that you would like to tell me?"

"His name is Clayton Bello and he runs an antique store in St. Morehead Parish. Black hair, green eyes, chin in the style of a king's beard. Age around thirty ......."

Bruno's pen stopped.

He was now convinced that Clayton and Mary were complete strangers.

And next to the door, Creighton's breathing ragged, never realizing that this female sheriff had come to hire Bruno to investigate him.
