After a 30-minute drive to La Push with Bella, Meridia climbed out of the truck and moved to stand next to her. The reason behind Bella's spontaneous trip was hidden under a tarp—two trashed motorbikes. Meridia scanned the property, her gaze landing on a tan boy with long black hair sprinting toward them. She instinctively backed up to the side of the truck.

"Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?" the boy exclaimed, grinning widely as he picked Bella up and spun her around in a warm embrace.

Bella, feeling slightly embarrassed with Meridia watching, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I, uh, brought you something."

"Okay," the boy responded, his smile broadening as he looked at Bella.

Bella pulled the tarp away, revealing the two motorbikes beneath. "It's a little crazy," she admitted.

Jacob's eyes widened, and he nodded. "Wow. Scrap metal. You shouldn't have."

"I saved it from the junkyard," Bella explained. "I thought they might cost more to fix than they're worth, but if I had a mechanic friend to help me out, then..."

"Ah, me. Being the mechanic type friend?" Jacob said with a grin.

"That's right," Bella confirmed.

"Since when are you into motorcycles?" Jacob asked, clearly intrigued.

"Since now. I get it if you think this is really stupid and reckless," Bella confessed, her voice faltering slightly.

"Yeah, I mean it's completely stupid and reckless," Jacob teased, his tone light. "When do we start?"

"Uhm, now," Bella said with a hopeful but nervous smile. Meridia shifted slightly, catching the boy's attention as he glanced over at her.

"Oh, Jake. This is Meridia," Bella said, throwing an annoyed glare at the siren, clearly frustrated that the focus had shifted away from her.

"Hello," Meridia's voice flowed like a melody, causing Bella's eyes to widen slightly, though it wasn't intentional on Meridia's part.

"Hey," Jacob responded, his voice dazed as he admired the blonde girl.

"Jacob!" Bella called, her voice sharp as she glared at the siren again. "Let's get started on building them, yeah?"

"Uh, yeah. Sorry," Jake muttered, quickly snapping back to reality, though his gaze lingered briefly on the blonde beauty.

Bella had placed the blonde-haired siren on a crate, away from the two teens. Meridia sat there, nervously twiddling her fingers, trying to shake off the sting of Bella's earlier outburst. Sometimes, her siren voice slipped out without her meaning to. Bella had never reacted like that toward her before, leaving Meridia unsure of how to feel.
